09 March 2004: "Proof Call #1: Final Results"
Hi guys, I just wanted to inform you on the finalized results of our first proof call. The deadlines were all running mid to late February, and after chasing after a few people the last few weeks, we've finally reached decisions for each person subject to the call.

The following people (some of whom were listed before) complied to our requests and met the deadline:

Michael Fried
Martin Cesar
Geoff Patterson
Karel van Dijvenboden
Paul Regeffe
John Anderson
Luke Mulders
Stefan Baczynsky
Paul van Cappelle

The following people have provided video proof before formal requests were issued:

Bart Savelkouls
Scott Rogoff
Tory Waters
Chris Rayola
Fernando Moritz dos Santos
Paul Tanney
Stacey Needham
Lars Nouwen

The following people were removed due to lack of cooperation and/or suspicion of false claims:
Frederic Billaudel
Guillaume Bertrand
Emmanuel Debio

The following players' times were frozen indefinitely for private reasons:
Jackson Harris
Josh Caudle

For those of you who don't know, Alex Penev is a known and trusted gamer on a number of titles, so his records are in doubt by few. However, we can make no exceptions here and Alex is currently putting together some tapes of his amazing times.

In final news and notes, there were some other players who coincidentally disappeared during the proof call and have been removed accordingly. There is one more loose end to be tied up in this proof matter, and that is with regard to Milosz. Contact with him has been limited and if we do not see cooperation and response from him with the next few days, he will be removed, I regret to report. Right now we have presented the option for him to send a copy of his mkdd file on a memory card to one of the moderators, who will validate his claims and send it back! It requires almost no effort, and is the least a player could do to support times of that caliber. If he doesn't cooperate, I will feel comfortable assuming his claims were not real. In the meantime, he has the benefit of the doubt. The last thing we want is to scare off off honest players, and I don't think that has happened yet. Jackson and Josh are two cases of us taking a milder a approach to avoid unwarranted removal.

So, I think that wraps it up. Expect another proof call in early May or so. Players in the top 30 should read about proof procedures, and also players having unusually high scores on select tracks (e.g. top 10). Players who were validated this proof call will be exempt from the next one. In the meantime, enjoy your karting everyone! And PLEASE...if your times aren't real, confess to one of us or at LEAST stop claiming new lies. You will be caught eventually, and really, it's just a stressful, laboring process that I'd prefer to avoid. Your random name that no one knows next to a false time gains nothing for you...if anonymously faking top 20 times on an MKDD Web site is gratifying to you for any reason, please stop and realize that you are actually less than nothing and that you have probably offended God himself in your comical effort to make yourself your own idol. In other words, EVERY TIME YOU POST A FAKE TIME GOD KILLS A KITTEN. (And yes, please think of the kittens).

This page is the real thing...playing by the rules is a small price to pay to know you're part of the most elite group of Mario Kart players in the world.
