So you want to join, eh?
Here's how to submit your times.
Option 1 (preferred): join our forums and post your PRs in the Time submission thread.
Other players and updaters will be able to see your times there quite easily. The start of the thread is
here. You need a forum account to do this.
Option 2: email our MK8 YahooGroup. The URL is groups.yahoo.com/group/mariokart8/. People who are
subscribed to this mailing list (such as other players and the updaters) can find your new scores. The email is
mariokart8@yahoogroups.com
Next, the guidelines for submitting:
- Submit times for MK8 only, and Time Trial mode only. Use the forum to discuss other types of records such as
Grand Prix, speedruns, or online.
- Include your name in each message, just as it appears on the site. That way we know whose scores to update. We don't let you update
your own scores by yourself in order to prevent spam and cheaters. When you submit for the very first time you should also tell us your
country (and even your town) since we use that for our Country Rankings. If your details have foreign alphabetic characters then we may
slightly modify your name so that it can be searched for by others. Also, submit only your new times -- don't bother sending in older times
that have not changed since we've already got them.
What should your posts look like?
Here's an example of what a first post may look like:
Hi everyone, I want to join your really hot site!
Name: John Doe
Country: USA, Los Angeles
Age: 26
MKS: 1'55"996 0'36"808
RMMM 59"067 ... not very good!
Rainbow Road 2.16.431
See you next time!
Some notes:
1) Always include your name.
2) Send whatever scores you have. You don't need scores for every track.
3) The game does not save your laps, so you don't need to submit any lap times. We still track them, but they don't contribute to the rankings.
To save you time typing, you can use these course abbreviations in your messages:
Regular new tracks: MKS WP SSC TR / MC TH TM SGF / SA DS ED MW / CC BDD BC RR
Regular retro tracks: rMMM rMC rCCB rTT / rDDD rDP3 rRRy rDKJ / rWS rSL rMP rYV / rTTC rPPS rGV rRRd
DLC tracks: dYC dEA dDD dMC / dWGM dRR dIIO dHC / dBP dCL dWW dAC / dNBC dRiR dSBS dBB
The 'R' in front of the older tracks stands for 'Retro', which already come with the game.
The 'D' in front of latter tracks (except Dolphin Shoals 'DS') stands for 'DLC', which are downloadable tracks from expansion packs.
There are many tracks with similar acronyms--Rainbow Road v. Royal Raceway v. retro Rainbow Road v. Ribbon Road, and
Mario Circuit v. retro Mario Circuit v. Mute City--and it's best to avoid confusion and use the abbreviations above so that everyone
knows which tracks you mean. You can also use the full track names, but abbreviations are easier in the long run, so take some time to
learn them.
