Submitting Your Times
Wondering how to submit your times? Look no further, this is the guide you've been seeking.
To submit your times, visit the submission page. If this is your first time visiting the page, you may be asked to verify your email address or accept the site rules. Once you're there, use the following guidelines to make your submission.
Submission Guidelines
At the top of the submission page, you'll find the option to select your console and mode. Select either Wii U or Switch, depending on the console you played on. If you select Switch, you'll have to select either 150cc or 200cc.
Next up, you'll notice a series of icons for each of the cups in the game. Clicking any one of them will present you with the submission form for the four courses in that cup. You can submit times for any number of courses as you wish, whether they are in the same cup or different cups. Although it's perfectly OK to submit only one time, keep in mind that submitting times for all the tracks will give you higher rankings on the site. Only submit your new times—we already have the times you've submitted previously.
For each track in the game you want to submit a time for, you must fill out a section of the form. The first and most important item to fill out is the time itself. Type the time as it is shown in game—minutes/seconds/milliseconds—just providing minutes and seconds is not enough.
Next, specify the controller category you used. We ask this of you because certain controllers provide advantages while playing, and other players may want to know whether you had those advantages or not. To specify your controller, select one of the following icons:
|
|
Choose this icon if you used "traditional controls." This includes the Wii U Gamepad (not including motion controls), Pro Controller, Classic Controller, GameCube controller, or Wii Remote + Nunchuck on the Wii U—or joystick controls on the Switch. |
|
|
Choose this icon if you used the Wii Remote D-Pad. Choose the first icon if you used the D-Pad on another controller, and choose the third option if you used motion controls on the Wii Remote. |
|
|
Choose this icon if you used motion controls, whether on the Wii Remote, Wii U Gamepad, or Switch. |
|
|
Choose this icon if you don't remember which controller you used. Don't pick this option simply because you don't want others knowing which controller you used. |
If you want, you can provide a proof link alongside your submission. Paste a URL to an image, video, or Miiverse post in the proof box. Note that proof is highly recommended (and even sometimes required) for very strong times (e.g., top 10).
You can add comments about your record if you wish, like your opinion on your run, the vehicle combination you used, your strategies, etc. This comment will appear alongside your score in the charts. Keep your comments clean—profanities are not allowed and will be removed.
After you've finished filling out the form, press the "Submit" button at the bottom of the page. You will be asked to confirm all the times you've entered, after which they will be sent to our staff for verification.
Proof Policy
Proof provided must follow these guidelines. Staff may refuse your submissions if they deem the proof to be invalid or insufficient.
Photo proof must show the track and time. The preferred option for photo proof is the ghost selection screen, although end-of-race screenshots are permitted, or the leaderboards (as long as the track name is visible). Photo proof will be required for top 25 times on Wii U and top 5 times on MK8 Deluxe.
Video proof must show the minimap, timer, and run in full (including the countdown). Live runs and ghost replays are valid; MKTV replays are not. Video proof will be required for top 5 times on Wii U and Site Records on MK8 Deluxe.
Additional Information
Times do not appear instantly on the charts since they have to get approved by time verifiers first. This process takes between a few minutes and a few hours, so please be patient and don't try to resubmit your times for at least 24 hours. You are however free to submit new improvements in the meantime, as those will overwrite your previous, slower submissions. Also keep in mind that the rankings (AF, Total Times, and PRSR) are typically refreshed only once a day.
If you made a typo in a submission, there's no need to notify a moderator directly. If your time hasn't yet been verified, you can remove it on the Pending Submissions page. If the time has already made its way through verification, you can request that it be deleted on your record history page (accessible from your profile page).
