Dropping inputs?

Hey guys. I'm... alright at this game. You can check my times, most are only Advanced. But I'm really struggling with CONSISTENCY of my runs. Particularly as it comes to building mini turbos with any sort of semblance of reliability. I just must be misunderstanding how this game works or something. Because I'll be MASHING to build a mini turbo, and just nothing happens. I'm talking like 8-10 inputs attempting to build it, and not moving from Red to Blue sparks. And it's absolutely infuriating to feel like the game is eating my inputs. I've checked and it's not my controller (unless all 3 of my controllers have the exact same issue). What kills me is that it works ~90% of the time. And that's good enough to get a 3 lap course done, sometimes. But I'm on pace for a new PB and I'm mashing around a corner on lap 3, just to have the game decide I don't get the mini turbo and lose my time.

Any information about this would be greatly appreciated. I just hate feeling that I don't know what to do. Doing the same thing over and over and getting different results.  Smiley

I'm not sure what your technique for Mts is, but you only need to move the control stick in the opposite direction and exactly to neutral to change the color of the sparks. There shouldn't be any mashing. Even the best players drop Mts often, so I wouldn't be too worried about it. Best of luck!

Yea. By mashing I mean doing that input over and over again. Hitting the stick in the direction, then letting go. Over and over. I do the same input and sometimes it just doesn't work. That's what I'm trying to figure out.
