A second proposal to update the MKWPP Rules.

This vote only concerns the Player's Page. Voting no will not be a vote for unbanning pause buffering altogether, it's a vote for keeping the current rules as they are.

This is largely a more decisive continuation on Vega's thread. That thread can be found HERE.

As most of us remember, a while ago the community decided to ban pause buffering for time trials (Explanation of the rule HERE) but the rule was never implemented on the player's page. I'd like to get a consensus from the PP community on where we stand on this issue to know whether or not the PP moderation team should follow this decision or not.

I'm personally very neutral on the pause buffering ban, I think there are good arguments from both sides to support either decision but as it stands, the rest of the community has already voted and implemented the banning of pause buffering. It's up to us to decide whether or not we'll follow this and make the rulesets a little more consistent across websites or decide to keep the current rule in place (all pause buffering being allowed)

I'll be voting for Yes, I prefer having the rulesets as similar as possible across websites to both decrease confusion and set an example for future rule changes to be made universal across websites so the whole community can have as clear of a ruleset as possible.

The poll will be open for 2 weeks and closes on the 31st of May at 6PM GMT.

So instead of acting like a coward saying bla bla it's impossible, you better play if you want to beat me instead of that kiddy mentality.
And to those guys, you have to find another way to beat me, I don't need to fake to crush you. Wink

I'm voting yes for the following reasons

  • It keeps a consistent ruling throughout the community.
  • Pause Buffering makes the game less enjoyable to play, and we TT because its fun. And not pause buffering for that reason while others do puts you at a direct disadvantage.
  • The goal of a TT is to go as fast as you can. Pause Buffering makes it so that while you in game time is lower, the actual time you spent on the run is significantly higher which goes against the spirit of the game.

To add on to this, if you pause in any other speedrun, the timer keeps ticking. I think it should be the same way for TTs.

I think this argument isn't really relevant to the pause buffering argument since pausing is still allowed, just not for buffering inputs. (and it should stay that way imo)

The difference for me is that in one scenario, you're pausing because maybe your parents had to talk to you for a second or something, while in the other you're actually abusing the fact you can stop the timer to save time.

I know some people who are attempting rr glitch while pause buffering for more precise/accurate inputs, will those people's (once they make it, of course) times be banned? I'm hoping that someone will make it without pause buffering, so that it's completely deserved and fair, but I'm wondering if the player(s) who uses pause buffering will get to pass this rule due to how hard the glitch is.

Picking and choosing instances where pause buffering is OK sounds too confusing. It should either be banned for every instance or no instance.

This has now been implemented, I changed Brett's and Justin's rPG runs and edited the rules to match this decision.
