The wr combo for RIW is koopa clown/barrel train, mushroom wheels, and any glider. The rationale for this is the kart and wheels make handling and execution of the gap shortcut much easier. It allows for much tighter lines and doesn't lose much speed either. It may take some practice to get used to this combo, but is very rewarding.
