OH SHIT! Well my fellow Karters, I have made my reservations for my nights stay for the Kart meet.  

So it's official!  ASMKC will be held March 14th and 15th at Hooligans, a barcade located at 209 Louisville Avenue Monroe, LA 71201.  The tournament will roughly last from 11am-11pm both days with Time Trials and Match Race being held on day one and Grand Prix and Battle Mode on day 2.  I'll post a link on here soon so that everyone who plans on participating can go ahead and officially register for the event.  The entry fee is $20 for one day or $40 for both.  HOWEVER, if you bring a console or game we'll give you $10 off or $20 off if you can bring both  .

Again, just like last year, the Kartel will provide housing for all players coming from outside of the US.  If there's room to spare then we'll obviously house karters from the US as well.  Of course Harvey and Andrew Koltz are welcome to stay with us too as they are both official members of the Kartel now   (it's not too late to join Joe  ).  

We were pleased with European presence at the last tournament and we hope to see you all again in  2020 as well as ScouB, Neo, Sophie, David Moll, Conor Woods, etc.  Also it'd be great if GAS, Alencar and other players from Brazil could make it as well as Michael Sumner and co. from Australia and maybe even a karter or 2 from Japan  .  The American karter turnout was pretty weak this year so hopefully 2020 will be much better.  On that note I'd like to extend a personal invitation to Tyler Worley, Joel Johnson, Dan H. and Mr. Fabrice Baro from Canada.  I know I'm probably forgetting some names but anyone who is reading this is invited and we would all love to meet you

As she made it very clear to everyone in the 2019 edition, Leyla has University finals in 2020 just after when the ASMKC is plus all of the final assignments which need completing that month, so she opted to make the 2019 edition instead. I will let her reply on that if she reads this at some point as I know she is very busy the whole year and might not read the forum much.

If memory serves correct I believe Lafungo was doing similar in 2019 and couldn't make the ASMKC for the same studying reasons. But perhaps he is aiming for a 2020 or 2021 appearance at ASMKC? Again he can clarify that himself too...

2021? That's ages away... too slow! We got her a drink in 2018 CDM after the Time Trial Final. Come to CDM 2020 you guys can have a drink earlier! I'll even throw in a coffee for you, then you can have a cold drink in one hand and a hot drink in the other.  

Dallas DFW would be the cheapest airport to fly into for most people. $100-$300 round trip from most cities in the US if you buy at least two weeks ahead of time on a day when cheap flights are available. Europe to DFW is $500-$900. From there, a rental car is $100-$120 for 3 days and about $60 for gas round trip of 600 miles. It’s a 4-hour easy drive to Monroe along two highways with little traffic outside Dallas. It makes sense if you have two or more people in your party or can carpool with other players.

There may be flights just as cheap to smaller airports about two hours away, but Dallas has the most flights, so you’re not likely to get something cheaper elsewhere unless you want to drive 12 hours from Atlanta.

New Orleans MSY is also another option that’s a 4-hour drive if you prefer to drive through that part(might be more scenic from southern Lousiana vs the plains/farms/desert of eastern Texas and western Lousiana.

What price did you pay last year? I see they’re about $1000 now. I’m gonna try to buy a ticket at least a month ahead of time now. Looking to fly into New Orleans this time if I can get a flight around $200. I’m tracking the price on google price alerts.

I will decide around January if I'm in, I will probably just do like last year and use the unexpected presidential bonus we had in France last year (which is now expected, but not confirmed) to afford my trip.

Once you confirm, Mario will find a way.  I'll gladly donate 79 dollars to help, 80 if something truly magical happens!  
We wanted to do short interviews with players from around the world  while they eat hot peppers. If its not your cup of tea, its very understandable.  Any takers?

And I plan on flying into Dallas and having my parents pick me up at the airport, then driving their Jeep to Monroe. Shaves a cool 32 hours off of last year's debacle...  

@antistar.  It would be feasible to make the trip if you had 2-3 other people from France book their tickets together as well. New Orleans would be a more entertaining and scenic place to drive through than Dallas.

For people coming from London and can only spend about $500:
Rental car is about $100 for three days and fuel costs would be about $100 total.
Obviously it’s better if you can find at least one other person to book the same flight to share the costs. If you’re traveling from a county that uses a foreign alphabet, e.g. Cyrillic or Arabic, you will need to apply for an international driving permit for $20 online. The drive from Pensacola FL is about 6 hours. The other cheapest option is Austin but an hour longer and mostly desert vs forest/farmland.
