My apology to the MKW community
02/08/19 at 20:35:30

Hey everyone, it's Jorge. I have recently decided to play MKW Time Trials again, and I thought it would be best to finally apologize to all of you for the cheating and lying that I did in the past in this community. I should have apologized a long time ago, and I am sorry that it took so long to bring this message to all of you.

I feel very ashamed of myself because of all the cheated times that I got that I tried to pass as legitimate, and the clear betrayal of trust that I did to everyone in this community by doing this. The circumstances of my cheating especially highlights the magnitude of how much I manipulated and lied to everyone because of the skill that I had previously acquired in the game. With the skill that I had acquired through playing before I started cheating in around May 2010, I attempted to trick everyone into believing that my times were legitimate because I could in theory do them. Instead of actually sitting down and grinding until I achieved my goals legitimately, I took the easy way out and used slow-mode cheats to be able to get many of my times post-May 2010. I completely disregarded all of the legitimate efforts that all of you put into this game, and instead I allowed my greed for more records to cloud my judgment. Looking back at it now, it was not just a frustration at my inability to do chain wheelies that pushed me to cheat, but it was also greed and entitlement stemming from the belief that I should have a lot more world records. These thoughts that I had back then were immature and completely ignored and disrespected all of you who played the game fairly and actually tried to deal with the mechanics of the game instead of resorting to cheating.

Throughout this time where I betrayed the trust of the entire community, there were a few individuals that I got particularly close to and that I would like to mention since I feel like I completely let them down and took advantage of their friendship with me. The individuals that most come to mind are NMeade, Sword, and Aruba. There are also many others that I befriended throughout my time playing MKW both in Time Trials and Wifi that I would like to talk to and address these words to, but NMeade, Sword and Aruba all believed in me and supported me a lot since very early on so I would like to apologize to all 3 directly. How I continuously lied to all of you about my legitimacy and took advantage of our friendship was honestly disgusting from my part, and all of you deserved way better from me. How I pretended to be legitimate during my rivalry with NMeade completely disrespected and disregarded the trust that we had in each other as competitors. You were also very supportive of me even when we were competing against each other, and I am really sorry that I did not give you the legitimate rivalry that you deserved to have. Even when my cheating had already been exposed, I disrespected my friendship with all three of you even further by still trying to insist that I was legitimate, and I am so sorry that I did this, it was completely childish of me to do this. I know my words are nearly 7 years too late. I honestly kept trying to run away from this entire situation, and I wish that I had done this sooner.

I completely understand those that feel animosity towards me because of how I lied and disrespected all of you, but I hope that this apology will at least put some closure to the situation. I'd like to say that I have matured and now understand how terrible my actions were, but I also completely understand those that will always have doubts about me because of how I took advantage of all of the trust many of you put in me back then. I hope that through actions such as using CTGP (which I have downloaded and will be using at all times), and through streaming (which I plan to do soon when my new capture card device arrives), I will be able to show that I have indeed changed and that this time I will legitimately attempt to improve my times and perhaps even achieve some records.

If anyone has any further questions about this entire situation, then please feel free to ask here or send me a message through discord. My discord is Dotman#1032

Hi Jorge,

I remember when I found out that yourself, Jay Batten, Mander etc had all been cheating I was super angry, not only for the game itself, but for people who for months were trying to compete with cheaters, Nick in particular.

This was, what? Eight years ago now? I think that is plenty of time to see sense and realise that what you did was in poor taste (some people get less time for murder  Grin). I know that I did a lot
of things that long ago that makes my skin crawl to think about today.

I am really happy that you are back playing again, you obviously were/are a massive talent and, despite your tainted history, you were one of the best players to ever touch the game. That Rainbow Road time always springs to mind when I think of legendary WRs.

I’m not sure what the likelihood is of the players’ page accepting you back, understandably, but obviously MKLeaderboards and (probably) MKWRS will accept your times if they are 100% legit.

Hope you’ve been doing well Smiley

But seriously dude, great job opening up- I can't imagine how hard it was to write something like this. I know most people won't accept your apology but I do (considering I've done like 3 posts here and have lurked here for a year idk if that means much). I know we have banned former cheaters, but MKL hasn't, and now you're ww 10 on KC !! Congrats, as people have noted, use your raw talent to go for more  Grin
If you think 7 years is too late, well... it is, but the fact that you apologized in the first place is awesome dude. I'm looking forward to your streams  Cheesy
Also I'd like to apologize for calling you an asshole the other day :/

Welcome back.

Its great to see you back but we already talked about this in our TT discord and everyone welcomed you kindly!

As for the PP. Dont mind any comments by these idiots who spread negativity and try to make you down. You apologized, had a talk with us and you play on ctgp - showing us your true skill and that cheating was unnecessary.

Everybody does bad things and whoever still rejects the fact that someone grows mentally and can change is totally stupid. You will have to face these kind of people on the players page as you can see they still dont accept legit times on their leaderboards which is very sad. But I think we cant Change this.

Therefore we have the more important charts on CTGP and more accurate charts on MKL. We also have our discord were you are already in compete with us. You are great and other should accept this aswell. If not their opinion doesnt matter anyways and they are ignorant individuals. those who were really hurt should not let their negative emotion take over here. Acceptance is a beautiful thing for someone who know he changed and wants to make things better so give them the chance.

As for other former cheaters you should do the same. Jay also started playing again and could apologize about things.

An insincere apology and it's as if it never happened or he isn't a permanently listed cheating coward. You guys have no social awareness. An apology is deflection of attention bound with attempting to pull at the human emotion of: sympathy.

Once you cheat, it's over forever!!

It's easy to apologize when so many dense people are willing to overlook anything for it.

Apologies don't change anything anyway.

Means NOTHING.

Here's the company phrase for anyone "returning" after being caught:

"I cheated before. I do not right now. It's 100% obvious why anyone would think I'm lying right now. Take it as you do."

Why should a 100% legitimate time not be counted on the leaderboards just because of something the player has done in the past? Doesn’t make sense to me, but I know there’s no changing jaws’ mind so I don’t know why I’m even typing this out. Smiley

I'll just repeat what I said on discord but I think it's cool to have you back in the community again.  I'm sure lots of the Allstars guys would find it fun to talk again (I have all of their discords if you want to talk to any of them) and I think most people don't have any hard feelings for ya especially have 8 years Tongue

But I also think it would be really silly to count any of your new times even if they're set on CTGP.  I'm completely confident any of your runs set on CTGP would be legit but that's not the point.  The rules were very clear about perma bans and honestly this constant bending of the rules for players just looks bad on the game as a speedrunner.

Cheaters benefiting off the luxuries of CTGP to be legitimized again is a blow in the face to Bean and the legitimate players who supported Bean in rebuilding the game and community after the "purge" by Cole.  Not one of the people caught cheating stuck around to help the game at all; it just died.

Not to say you shouldn't use CTGP; the more people on it the better.  Just as far as counting TTs goes.  The only reason I went in depth about this is because we've seen Jay Batten back on CTGP too so might as well get this out of the way now.  I just wanted to say that.

I hope you're doing well and maybe one of these days we can all play wifi and catch up.

Those were really fun times playing with all of you on Wifi and I would love to play some wifi with everyone again! I think you bring up a very good point about how allowing cheaters back is a blow in the face to Bean and everyone that worked hard on CTGP. I know that some sites have decided to allow my CTGP times, but regardless I don't think the PP should bend their rules regarding cheaters.

Respectfully, I disagree, Chouy.

I think these cases specifically are nothing but a positive for Mr. Bean, Chadderz and everyone else who worked on CTGP. The purpose of CTGP is to eliminate cheating and unfair play and it is a testament to the hard work and dedication that some disgraced players can use his system to prove themselves.

Jorge and Jay have committed to CTGP to prove that they have changed and it’s a compliment to the all the hard work put in to prevent cheating.

Obviously perma-bans were set and the players in question I’m sure were aware of these at the time and that is an understandable argument but please remember that these bans came at a time of real distrust in the community. Now with CTGP, we can tell legitimate times from cheated times and back in 2011 this wasn’t even a fathomable idea.

Honestly I think that hes served his punishment for 8 years which is longer than some prison sentences for actual crimes (wasnt David Harmes sent to jail for 8 years lol)

but i guess my opinion dosent really matter cuz im a newer player Shockedof:

It's not about serving your punishment for past events.  It's about preventing future events.

If we go off this idea of "If it's set on CTGP then no matter what we count it because it is legit." then what is to prevent us other legitimate players from being enticed to cheating with always having our CTGP times be a fall back?

I've used this example before and I'll use it again.  With this ideology as a trusted player, what is stopping someone from going on riivolution with cheats to improve their WR to a crazy time?  Most would probably believe them since disk drive issues are common and we have many other trusted players who are currently on the rankings without CTGP.  Worst thing happens they  get caught and just revert back to their current WR because it's still #1 on CTGP?  Sounds like a nice deal tbh.

People who have cheated in the past have the luxury of showing up on CTGPleaderboards without being manually deleted; that in itself is already a ton of leeway.  They should not show up on any other leaderboard.

Nah someone who played on CTGP suddenly going off of it would be setting off some alarm bells for me. And if you play the game at that high of a level im sure you should be willing to get another wii/wii u

By the way (((MARIO))); you know I'm just talking shit, I can't ever know if your apology is sincere or not. The other part of my post is objective though.

Your apology is accepted (in my mind); you were one of MANY-MANY cheaters in the game, I never did and never will take a game or its contents to heart enough to be "angry" or "swayed."

Hi Jorge,

Thanks for the apology. Nice to see you playing again and I'm looking forward to seeing what you can accomplish playing legitimately.

I was wondering if you could provide more details on how you cheated. Did it start with using slow-mo for chain wheelies then evolve into using it in other places as well? What was the first track you cheated on and what was the reason for it? Was the slow-mo code you used the one mdmwii posted in early 2010? (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trhG-MiPHzI)

Hey Cole!

I do not remember the first track that I set a PR on with the cheats, but I do remember that the first track that I tested them on was rSL for the chain wheelies. At the time I felt frustrated that I could not hit the chain wheelies consistently at all in a track like rSL. What I should have done is sit down and actually try to learn the timing, but instead I resorted to using the slow-mode code. At the very beginning I used the slow-mode for chain wheelies in tracks with many chain wheelies, and then I additionally began to use them for precise techniques/SC/Glitches. These include things like the ramp trick on rSGB, the mander strat in KC, stair dives in DC, BCWii glitch with Bowser Bike, rBC3 SC, rGV2 glitch, etc. I did not take the time to learn these techniques/SCs/glitches like I should have and instead took the easy way out by using slow-mode. I'm sorry, and I'm glad that you exposed my cheating since it was completely unfair and disrespectful to those that actually took the time to learn and grind these things. I do not remember if this code made by mdmwii was the one that I used. I do remember that what I did to activate it was through a list of cheats and from there I would activate the slow-mode code. Considering that I used the Y button to activate the slow-mode like in the video, chances are that this code by mdmwii was the one I was using.

Hope this answer your questions! I don't recall every single instance that I used slow-mode so I am definitely missing some from those that I listed.
