Was "Old Man Smelling Bad" a Niyake alt?

There is a sub 20 time on GV from 2008 and we were discussing if it was a completely overlooked player or just an alt.

We are not sure tho because this account has a full timesheet on ninrankings and a few competition times.

Funny, I just noticed that guy today myself. I have no recollection but I'd be willing to bet they're two different players, especially given one used Baby Mario and the other Koopa. I doubt Niyake went back and forth improving his times with different characters/licenses during a period when people were less versatile than ever. Though, being an alt wouldn't be unheard of (inviso & I both had alts on the tops at some point back then). Someone may as well just ask him on Twitter, probably the only way we'll know for sure. Or if you really care you can try to dig up one of the うさんくさいおっさん ghosts and compare to Niyake's playing style at the time.

I generally have a pretty good memory but when it comes to remembering alleged alts I have no clue for the most part So surprised when others can. I do remember some of the old rumours though. Like how Omega was hospitalized from playing too much rYF or Retty died in a tsunami (or typhoon/earthquake?) You can probably look through old threads/posts here to find more though I'd prefer if you didn't (I probably have tons of cringy posts made when younger).

I doubt it unfortunately, I think it was around May time, iirc, he said that he had some form of contact with Zenel back then as they were competing against each other for the MT WR and he had him added on his friend roster, then, as soon as the disaster struck, nothing. Also, nick showed him on his roster and his location was set at the worst affected area of the country. There of course could be other explanations, maybe he was evacuated and just forgot about the community whilst away? But by putting 2 and 2 together, it doesn’t look great unfortunately.
