Glad to see that my SNES/SMK/controller set got to Monroe in time! I was worried that it might arrive late, but the postal service kept their promise.
Good luck to everyone, it'd be interesting to see who ends up using my cartridge during this event, but please remember to press L+R+Select+A on the console upon startup so that it runs in NTSC mode (you've probably heard this already few times, but I just want to make sure everyone knows!). Check for that
red light! (Also be sure not to confuse the NTSC/PAL switching code with a similar four-button code in the game that differs by only one button. Just... don't.)
I was able to get a can of Chef Boyardee Ravioli down tonight at least, that's a start. Those have lately been my go-to snack for late nights since it only takes a minute and a half in the microwave.
P.S. You will test all controllers before the event, correct? I'm okay with you adding or removing screws from the back of the controllers if you believe it will make them easier to use, as I didn't have enough screws for both of them. I think I put three in each one, and there are supposed to be five. So the outer shell could feel "loose" in a player's hand, and they won't be used to that.
Also can I safely guess that no smoking is allowed inside the Tower Place? I'm not a smoker myself but if I do come there with family in a later year, they will need a place to light a cigarette.
And this should be obvious but I think players should turn off phones during a race, otherwise eoJ might get a call from someone back in Austin or Chicago wanting to catch up with him, not aware that he's currently in the middle of an important SMK race.
