How to properly adjust after SSMT?
08/05/18 at 19:23:53

I hope I don’t seem like an idiot for asking but the main thing I have trouble with in this game is re-aligning with a hop after performing an SSMT. For now I’ve been aligning without a hop which is obviously slower, but whenever I try to align with a hop the kart just flies wildly in that direction, a lot more than I intended.

If any top players see this, is there a certain way you align your kart with a hop after doing SSMTs? Your help would be greatly appreciated

Same here
I lose a bunch of time because of that.

That's why my TC is so bad.

From watching live replays, it looks just like they’re starting a drift in the opposite direction but releasing it quickly.. gonna try this again

Edit: Figured it out! The trick is to make sure you let go of R before landing. Expect big improvements from me soon, hopefully you can improve your TC time with this advice Martijn  Smiley

No offense but Martijn does know that of course

. Many top players have problems with perfect SSMTs, You can easily lose 0.020. I talked with Sun like 2 days ago, I think he is one of the best placed to talk about it. Points:

1) with monsters at least, and I totally agree with that because I tested it a while ago, the difficulty to pull out a perfect SSMT depends on your kart. It's by far the most difficult with B7. Bruiser is the easiest. BD is middle.

2) Sun sometimes loses randomly time, on rLR or on rLM. So even him can't tell a 100% reliable strat,

So just press R, then right/left right before landing, and jump out of the mt once it's charged as fast as possibl. Then pray.

I literally lose like 0,2 Or 0,3 with the second hop on TC.
No joke. I really don't know how to fix it. I tried literally everything.
I don't want to spend time anymore on ssmt's.
Spend enough hours on it.

After 3 hours last night the improvements on my rLR splits were there but minimal, thought I’d save a lot more time  Undecided

How much of a difference does Red Monster make over Monster tires? Since I only rebought the game cartridge last month I never bothered to get enough coins to re-unlock RM

Red Monster has more acceleration, and blue has more weight. There are some hidden stats though, so check the wiki. As for time saves, it isn’t very much, but for example on TC, it can definetly lower some times significantly.

Someone told me some time ago that Red Monster have a SLIGHTLY higher MT lenght, while Monster have SLIGHTLY tighter drifts.

I’m giving up for now, after 6 hours of rLR attempts I definitely have the splits to sub 1:44 but I can’t get 3 good laps together, whether I mess up an SSMT or simply clip the dirt on a turn, it’s just too frustrating

Really underestimated the difficulty of SSMT adjusting but I’m getting the hang of it

I'd rather focus on having tight tunnels and corners in general, doing good SSMTs isn't that important at your level, you shouldn't go for the one after the hill for example, in my opinion.

I don’t go for one after the hill, only on the straights, once on lap 1 and twice on laps 2 & 3. Also, whenever I get out of a turn with an SMT I hop back just like I would with an SSMT.

The main problem I’m having is getting on the raised blue platform at the beginning of lap 1 without any air time, I’ve been able to do it perfectly maybe, 1 out of 20 times? If I could do that more consistently I could definitely PR much faster

That's my problem too, but it's not a bad problem since you only have to do it once per run, and right at the start.
