Doesn't make much of a difference to me if he mentioned it before, he could've just prepared the fake claim beforehand to make it more believable if he has to claim. After all that Alaktorn shenanigans with role claiming, not too far fetched to me that he would try to do something like that.

Also as I said before, I highly doubt that Higuchi would be a neutral role in this game. IIRC, Light says get rid of it to lose control over the DN and after that Higuchi gets in posession of the DN and starts killing with it. In what world is that a survivor role?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but i don't think that claim is very believable in that spotlight.
