Random thought not worhy of a new thread

The tracks are too track specific.  There's so many naunces to specific tracks.  So just cause you've got tons of skill overall on many tracks you can't just WR on a new track.  you have to learn the nuances of that track.  it's not like 1 game anymore, it's like 32. (plus things like flaps, CTs, alt vehicles).  I kinda wish there weren't so many track naunces so just pure driving would get better.  Because there's so many othe tracks, flat tracks don't get as mch attention, especially with all the time invested into nuance-learning.

There was no other place to post this, so sorry for the extra thread if this seems cluttery to some people with ocd or w.e.

Didn't want to make a new thread:

When i was 13, i time trial koopa cape for hours.  i got like 2:30.  WR at the time was like 2:24. (btw now its 2:18 lol)
the first WR's i saw, btw: were  jochem @MC, sword's CM with the british looking zenel mii, Omega's YF in 2008 and probably some RR time.  (first online race was peach gardens lol got 9th)
Anyway first ghost i studied and learned from was former rSL WR holder President Evil's KC AR. it blew me away how they were catching up on every corner, and how such a sinister name was used with sucha  cool looking yet still nerdy mii, like me when I was 13 xdroflmao

I wanted to be just like Prez.

Now we actually give each other some competition in pro lounges! (but ive been doing bad around him in particular LOL)  Can't believe I'm almost as good as my first MKW idol <3 or at least in the same realm

After ten years almost goal basically achieved (im satisfied tbh)

Their are people who are huge no glitch people (seems to be more of the older players)
Their are people who are huge into glitches (seems to be more of the newer players)

But I've noticed a trend with these glitch masters, when they go into a no glitch category, it is almost always a boring spear track. I can not seem to understand why this is.

Think of WiiLords notable MC no glitch, or Guy's notable MC no glitch, or Braixens rYF.

Now I am fully aware that on the more normal driving tracks that these "glitch-masters" have proven themselves well competent (braixens CM NG is really good if I remember, one of the more technical tracks.)

This is not necessarily a negative thing its just some commentary on a trend I am noticing.

First lf all interesting observation. I actually have potential on a few BB courses as well, but MC NG is just my track of choice. If you look at my old PR history via the playlists (videos are unlisted), you can see that I have been playing the category since December-ish 2015 iirc, shortly after starting MC glitch seriously back in October of that year (all credit to Inspire who taught me the basics of the glitch)

PLayers that are good at glitches tend to be better at "boring" tracks probably because they have the dedication to grind that boringness out

Here's another thought not worthy of a new thread. I was curious so I checked the CTGP ghost database for Yoshi Falls, the number of ghosts submitted by Blaze, Braixen & I is ridiculous Grin Here's what I counted: (I only counted .2xx or below submitted as of today)

59.2xx
KingAlex - 50
Blaze - 15
Braixen - 10

59.1xx
KingAlex - 26
Blaze - 17
Braixen - 14

59.0xx
KingAlex - 9
Blaze - 9
Braixen - 5

SUB 59
Braixen - 3
Blaze - 1
KingAlex - 1

The tally really shows how quickly Braixen improved (unless he just restarted a lot), Blaze & I are pretty similar more or less (minus all my shitty .2s) and we both subbed with 2/3 sticks Grin I wonder what Cole's numbers would be had his runs all been saved Smiley

^ I had 4 59.0xx's when I subbed (top 5 pic). I didn't complete any new runs since. I probably had ~10 59.1xx's and ~10 59.2xx's.

For LC my numbers are a lot higher:

1:08.9xx: 5
1:09.0xx: ~85 (~35 when going for the sub, ~35 when I got 947, ~15 in 2018)
1:09.1xx: At least 100...

But the real question is:

You just created a new thread and told us your random thoughts so the title is wrong. So why call it like that? lol

It is also wrong because you just made a typo.  Smiley Smiley

The amount of ghosts doesn't take into account how fast we improved - just how many times we happened to finish rYF runs, regardless of when they were set. I actually never had a 59.1 as a PR, since I skipped from .245 to .087, so all of my .1 ghosts were set long after I had a .0. What would be more interesting would be to compare our PR progression, which can be viewed on Chadsoft:

Blaze:

Braixen:

Good point Blaze, I took that into consideration but didn't realize we could sort by PR history (a much more accurate way of telling as you said). I still think our total ghost count is pretty cool

Thanks for the screenshots. Man, it took me 5 months (though for I stopped playing for 2) to go from a .1 to sub whereas Braixen did it in almost 1. He must have went hard during that time Shocked You & I were both stuck on our 59.013s for almost 2 months before finally subbing Grin

Thanks Cole. Your LC numbers are insane Smiley

Thankfully, I wasn't grinding rYF for 2 months before I got 58 (would have probably gone insane if I played that track for that long Grin). I took about a month break from TTing after I set my .013, and I didn't play rYF right away when I came back. I've always felt that taking breaks helps with improving on tracks, since you don't tire yourself out by playing for too long, and you can come back to the game with a clear mind.
