Hi Tom, it is not really about places to leave items, but more when to do it. The places could be anywhere depending where the opponent is behind you and you want to catch them out at high speed before they react in time to avoid it. Otherwise, generally narrow road spots (don't need to say where they are as they are the obvious ones), or places where a feather shortcut / longboost is triggered to make it harder for the opponent. Again these are all obvious places.

Look through the GP and Match Race vids on the CDM site and you will find all the examples you need there, used countless times over as green shells and bananas are received a lot by the item boxes. Hope that helps.
