In my opinion, you should try to keep a fair balance between informing the players who already familiar with MK8, and informing the gamers who have never bought or even played MK8.

Obviously us here are far more interested in the finer details regarding the gameplay/physics/mechanics of the new version, however comments about tech (outside of possibly fire/bunny-hopping) will go over the head of the majority of your readers. Therefore you should rather focus on the more apparent novelties for the purpose of a preview (new batlle modes, new characters, new karts...). You can always report about more specific stuff on this board if you wish!

Since you will be playing in a controller environment and the Nintendo staff will likely try to direct you towards the Battle Mode, you may not have sufficient opportunities to experiment with the game. I strongly recommend that you spend some time with the Wii U version (both in 150cc and 200cc) so that you can immediately spot potential differences in the gameplay.

Some stuff taken from the preview that I don't believe was known beforehand :

-All characters (except Golden Mario) are available from the start, however the vehicle parts have to be unlocked with coins like on the Wii U version (ugh...)
-The single player is allegedly a bit easier this time, up to 150cc.
-There's a second driving assist option in addition to the "antenna" one, which seems to merely be an auto-pilot. No further details.
-Couldn't tell whether fire hopping was useful or not during the preview, even with the new purple mt.
-HD rumble is supported in the game and is said to be very convincing with the Joy-con controllers, moreso than with the Pro Controller.

I also noticed two factual errors in the preview text. For one, King Boo is not an all-new character as he was already in MKDD and MKW. And then there are only 3 retro battle courses instead of 4 (Urchin Underpass while originating from Splatoon initially is all new to the kart series and has a different layout).

EDIT: don't trust my poor skills about 150cc and (especially) firehopping feelings. It was a short session and I'm no MK8 expert, even if I played the game more than any other 3D episode. I kinda suck at firehopping even if I know how it works. About 150cc, it's just because it looked really easy to me to win solo races, easier than in my memories actually, even if I hadn't played for a while.

Indeed, it's a shame I didn't even notice it, just trusting what the guys at Nintendo told me about the "new" characters. I knew both Splatoon characters were new of course (the 2nd MK8 DLC was even released before Splatoon came out), but wasn't sure about King Boo not being in the original MK8, so I was OK with those informations.

Something else Antistar pointed out during a gaming live I just watched; is the very first DLC of MK8 containing the three Mercedes-Benz vehicles will be in MK8 Deluxe or not? We still don't know, I mean we are not 100% sure and I don't remember seeing these cars in any recent MK8 Deluxe trailer too.
