Disney might be the #1 name in animation, but even they've made some stinkers in the past.

What are the biggest stains on the Disney Canon?

(It should be noted that a movie that's bad by Disney standards is still better than the majority of movies out there)

(Also, animated feature films only)

So proud that Fantasmagorie the 1908 French animated film by Émile Cohl is the first animated cartoon by using the traditional animation --hand-drawn-- creation methods Cheesy

About your questions: it's difficult to answer you 'cause I'm a Disney fan but some Disney films appear in this list of box office bombs

Anything that isn't PG-13 or R. aka every Disney movie. Disney should try to appeal to older audiences for once, and stop making all their movies into garbage only pre-schoolers would enjoy. I stopped watching that shit many years ago because there movies/shows are so damn childish.

Ikr. At least there's lots of other film companies that make movies that appeal to older audiences

The most recent one to be released that I remember being talked about but have never seen is the peanuts movie, which was released in 2015, but there have probably been more since then

I've seen The Lion King and Aladdin (excellent), Mulan (still pretty good), and The Hunchback of Notre Dame (average). So of the ones I've seen so far, Hunchback is at the bottom, but that isn't saying much. I still want to see The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Pocahontas (I do have the Lion King 2 and Tarzan DVDs on the back burner). But I wish Disney animated DVDs weren't so fucking expensive. Often $25 for one of them. I buy most of my movies second-hand (often on VHS) to save on costs.

I've seen a few non-Disney animated films that were pretty good: the other night I saw An American Tail, the first of the Fievel Mousekowitz series. The Land Before Time wasn't bad, and neither was its first sequel (I have the first seven or so TLBT films on DVD, but have only seen the first two so far). I wasn't too disappointed in Quest For Camelot, and I still have Anastasia and The Prince of Egypt from that time period to watch. I've always had a soft spot for animated films, because I really should have seen them as a kid, but never did.

And yeah I'm aware that the G rating has gone out of fashion in recent years. Pretty much every film geared at a young audience has been rated PG. Maybe the MPAA has gotten stricter with the standards of their G rating, or maybe filmmakers have been putting more "dirty" content in kids' movies to force the MPAA to give them PG.

I don't necessarily care what rating a movie gets or even what audience it's geared towards. I've become a bit of a connoisseur of film over the past five or so months. I appreciate good storytelling and often great special effects and stunt work in any film, whether it's rated G or NC-17 (and I've seen films with both of those ratings within the past week-- in fact, the only rating I haven't seen this week is PG-13, as I've been mostly focusing on '80s films which predate the rating).

So yeah, I watch a very wide variety of films. Animation, horror, comedy, action, drama, and yes even what probably qualifies as soft-core porn. I like to see the good in every category of film.

For the record, here are the films I've watched within the past 168 hours:

The Dreamers
Caddyshack
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Poltergeist
Flashdance
Back to the Future
An American Tail
Raiders of the Lost Ark

(1 G, 3 PG, 3 R, 1 NC-17, none PG-13)

And there are so, so many PG-13 films that have an f-word or two thrown in just to force the rating, so that it won't get PG and moviegoers won't dismiss it as a "kiddie" film. Though there are a lot of great PG movies that aren't necessarily aimed at kids, like Back to the Future, both Ghostbusters films, the Rocky series, the original Star Wars trilogy, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Top Gun, Groundhog Day, Sleepless in Seattle, Moonstruck, Runaway Bride, or Poltergeist. Some of those were made before PG-13 was created, but none of them have any patently "adult" material-- they're all great for the whole family.

Most PG-13 films in fact could probably just as easily have been PG-- witness the single F-bomb dropped early in Deep Impact, a movie that otherwise feels very PG-ish, just to force the rating to be bumped up. Similar lone F-bombs occur in My Best Friend's Wedding, Weekend at Bernie's, and Pretty in Pink. Other PG-13s are basically just PGs whose directors probably begged the MPAA to make it PG-13 and not PG, so it wouldn't be dismissed as a "kid's" movie. See the Jurassic Park films, Dr. Dolittle, Independence Day, the Batman series, Dirty Dancing, Wayne's World, Twister, Mrs. Doubtfire, the Mission: Impossible series, or the Ace Ventura films just to name a few. All very much family-friendly films with little offensive or disturbing content. I give special mention to Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, which not only does not feel like PG-13, it doesn't really even feel like PG! I'm a little disappointed that the MK films don't have the blood and gore that the video games have. Wouldn't Annihilation have been a lot more awesome if Liu Kang or one of the other fighters did a "Fatality" on Shao Kahn at the finale? But no, this movie is barely more violent than many G-rated animated films, with no profanity or sexually-charged content to speak of.

Titanic, Dances With Wolves, Notting Hill, and The Ring, on the other hand, actually deserved the PG-13 IMO. Possibly also Forrest Gump, Ghost, Big Daddy, or The Pelican Brief.

(Yeah I've watched mostly 80s/90s films lately)

So, how old are you? I realize you're trying to be mature by claiming that G- or PG-rated movies are shit, but it sounds like you're trying too hard to impress nobody in particular.

The feeling of being a world champion is intoxicating, and I didn't want to ever not be the world champion again. Then I realized it didn't matter that much since I had nothing more to prove and achieved my most important goal(s).

You have to admit it's the worst movie in the series though. It definitely would've been a lot better if George Lucas wouldn't have given up the franchise

Yeah Disney eating Pixar, then Lucasfilm, and Marvel really scared the crap out of me at first I was like they will ruin everything, especially about Marvel, but now I'm fine with that and the results are not so bad Smiley

Nah, Episode 7 is one of my favourites actually.  I love all of the Star Wars movies (excluding Rogue One), however I think Attack of the Clones was the weakest of them all.

Yeah it's what happens when they want to create something that will make both the old fans and new generation happy and then just for making the youngsters the new fans, it happens everywhere since at least 15 years (Internet rising + nostalgia era = this conjuncture in time), and it happens more and more and more.., with comics, video games, even music, obviously anime and movie, and many more.
