(Sorry for the delay this week, I've been busy with work and BP but now that I have time...)
Hello and welcome to my tutorial series for Mario Kart: Double Dash!! And by “tutorial series”, I of course mean Player of the Month February! Your nominees this week are…
Mike Koehoorn
David Gutierrez Pena
Paul Tanney
Guillaume Becard
Dennis Colvin
I wrote a brief summary for all the nominees, but if you want a more in-depth analysis on the player's movement, be sure to check out the previous news updates.
Of course, the boi Gomby, Mike Koehoorn himself, FINALLY went from being ranked #4 to #2 and getting numerous world records such as SL 3lap and flap, DKM 3lap, MuC flap, BP flap (again), and several other wins on Andrew… I mean… 60hz Records.
David Gutierrez Pena, solidified himself as a God by reaching sub 0.00 ARR by lowering his ARR from 0.32 to -.13, obtaining 6 more God times, and passing Marijn Jongbloed. The highlights of David’s month were both WRs that he took on WC and the big improvements made on half of his timesheet.
UK’s #1, Paul Tanney established himself once again as a top 20 player, and had several improvements that are worth talking about. He started his rise in the ranks by improving his course times to the levels of his flaps. On BC a .5 cut was made; on WS, a massive .8 cut and went sub 31 for the first time giving him the God standard; in Mushroom Cup, he raced two new God times giving him the halfway mark to 32 Gods with a 1:04.6 Baby Park 7lap and 1:15.3 Luigi Circuit 3lap. With these cuts, he almost became the next Myth+ player, cutting it close with just a .07 ARR cut remaining!
Guillaume Becard, the French menace, started ranked 62 this month, but rapidly went up the charts, clearing 15 ranks and most importantly, crossing the gap from #51 Gregor F. and #52 Rodolphe G. (5pt AF gap!). He raced his 2nd god time in PB by making a huge jump from a 22.0 to high 21.8. Another big accomplishment this month was upgrading his timesheet to Titans or better!
Dennis Colvin went from #312 to #165, obtaining an overall AF cut of 150pts! With this AF cut, he also got a major ARR cut going from Expert ranks to Hero C. He also took the lead in 2017 Experts, a rivalry with #168 Christophe Balzeau, #233 Vincent Audoore, and #251 Jean-Christophe Leger.
Good luck to everyone and this poll will end in a week!
