From NOOB TO CHAMPION
01/27/17 at 15:49:52

Ok oke lets start easy, whaha

Hi every one nice to meet you guys.
Let me introduce myself!

My name is VAJ, some of you might know me already or have med me in Solingen!
I'm new to this game and like to experience what it takes to have tt fun on mkdd.

My mk history, I am a top mariokart 64 player and have been sc champion for 9,5 years from 2007 -2016. and had over 49WR at one time PAL en NTSC.
In non sc i have severall wr's in the past and currently hold the LR flap wr.

Now i feel i like to have a new mk challenge so i choose mkdd.
Maybe some of you guys can tell me the ins and out about time trils and what i should or shouldn't know!

for example:
what is the diff between 50 and 60 HZ. and what wich one is the main leader.
How do i pull off MT's
What is the best equipment to play. ( i use a WII to play mkdd) and currenlt have a 3rd party controller.
What do i need to unluck to get the fastest characters, who are the fastest
etc etc.

lets become friends here!  Cool
LAST: sometimes i could be confusing since my english is bad, so if you do not untherstand me please ask again! thx

I will use this topic for my personal pr's as well. in the begining so people can give me personal advice what i need to change!

Welcome VAJ, you're making a wise move.

There are a couple of good resources to answer all your questions:

Firstly this is a must read, it starts with the basics and goes through to talk about some of the more advanced techniques.

For a more visual introduction to the tracks, created my Goomba this is a great tutorial series to watch. It's set at the perfect level for anyone starting out wanting to learn.

Good luck with your quest.

You should use the official GC controller because the 3rd party ones (almost) always have something wrong with them (example: messed up joy-stick). There is virtually no difference between MKDD on the Wii or GC. Chose the one that is more convenient for you.

Good luck in MKDD!  Smiley

thx bro, i just start with this, but i will invest in better equipment later ok
thc for the great explenations of those pages, they go way beyond the introduction on mk64 and are 100% usefull. I really like the fact that it tells you to keep trying english instead of using your own laguish. i struggle but i try. Cheesy

I'm ready!

i start my setup now and will stream my very first attempt for you guys! lets do it!  Wink
Bad luck for today! it seems my 3rd party controller doesn't function on the WII.
it was tested on the gamcube and worked! sounds this familiar?

thx Jocelyn. ps what does Bop means?

It seems non of my controllers working well! It looks like sometimes the slide goes away whyle holding R or L. this way i cant finish my MT's. it also happens i go all over the place on a track like LC.

For example i was drifitng in the turns and half my way it stops and goes opposit direction.?! how in the world/.

Also i like to know to record your pr's do you need live recording? (cause the raplay funcion sucks of this game! of is there a trick to get a good few of your replay?

and last i have watched the noob mt stuff video.
I am used to pull of MT's by changing this stick fully left right left or right left right!
But it looks like in the video example in MKDD you only need to go back to the middle!
is that true?

for example: can anyone right down how the LF inputs or RF inputs look like?? thx

That must be the problem with the 3rd party controllers. You really should obtain an official Nintendo controller.

There is no way to fix replays, sadly. Use a capture card or set your phone on a try pod.

Either method works.

nah, only track I really like is Baby Park. I've tried mkdd a few times and while it's fun in multiplayer, time trials doesn't grab me. Good luck though Vaj, hope you have fun.
