Since there has been talk about this in multiple threads and comments,
the question is whether or not we should bring Player of the Year (And the other awards such as POW, POM, POQ) back.

This forum post is so that we can discuss this subject and the possible future of award distribution.
We could host polls for the POY (and maybe POQ?) for the years we've missed, and for 2017 and on we'd get all the awards back.

So to sum it up: POY (Maybe POQ) for the past years and host them in polls
POW, POM, POQ, POY from 2017 (so we'd have to go back a little bit)
We could also add POM for 2016 since it's still kinda recent and was definitely active enough.

Thoughts?

I think adding a "Player of the _____" thing can only be good. It would just be another thing that people can work to achieve, as long as its kept balanced by not ignoring anyone outside the top 50, for example. It would work better if everyone's achievements are considered, even those much lower in the rankings. Doing polls here would probably be the best way to do that.

Im not sure we should look back at 2016 (even tho yung Goomb might really want this given the insanely good year he had) just because thats been, done, finished, ovah. Starting a POM for January 2017 though would have my full support. POW from either Jan 1st or starting on Feb 1st would also be something I would like to see, I dont mind which.

Lol that last thing made me really laugh   I'm very impressed by how you think how I feel. I have nothing against Goomba, instead I invited him a long time ago (even before this new technique) and I wish him all the best! In SMK there are some big changes upcoming and I was just using this for an example To be honest I don't give any shit about MKDD for a long time already but I still hang around to see what's going on.. I love seeing Goomba taking over the ranks here! It's time for a new Dutch champion hehe  

There are plenty of detailed updates to go back after the fact.

As for things like POY's, they should be unanimous since many players wandered away etc.

If people care about POW points, take similar approach to awards given after 2007?

Emo and I went for POY (And maybe POQ) for the years before 2016/2017 as a way to "cover" the years without spending too much time on it. Also I don't think people should care about the points, I feel like it should only be something fun to look back on like "Oh yeah that month I did well" or "hey that was a good week", and not something like "I had 15 insane weeks and you have 12" because that's not what awards should be for in my opinion.
