Leone, Lenny, Lafungo, and Racer727 have yet to make any posts.

The worst thing is that everyone except for Lafungo has been online after the game started but they still haven't posted.

He has played 3 forum games in the last couple of months. You can read all of them in this subsection btw, if you want to read a bit more into our playstyles.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the slight town read, but that really is not a good reason. Do you think I am incapable of asking questions about how the metagame operates here in the thread? Or what if I am mafia and my team was not online? Or what if they were and I decided to ask in the thread anyway so more people could answer? It's really a bad reason to think I am town, there's too many layers to it.

This is the part that concerns me. The rest of what this guy has done is rather forgettable as well. How could he not realize when the game begins? It was mentioned 2 days before it started.

Web, if your biggest scumread is Vinnie, why don't you put your vote on him? There is no risk of accidentily reaching a majority? Do you think his behaviour until now does not warrant some extra pressure on him?

it's just a gut read on very little evidence, thus the "very slight" prefix. By no means is it clearing you from a potential vote. D1, especially the beginning posts aren't filled with that much in terms of usable data and (at least here) it takes a bit for the ball to start rolling and interactions to lead to strong reads.

as for those yet to post I saw Leone lurking for a bit online as I went off last night, haven't been checking the "members online" list frequently so not sure if anyone else was there for an extended period of time.

I probably will not bother going into the metagame too much, I have a decent idea of how most of you play already. You and Dan strike me as the good players. Good as in experienced, not necessarily town.

The thing I do not like about the inactive players is it gives the mafia people to hide between. By upping the general activity of the game, mafia will be pushed more outside their comfort zone where they are more likely to exhibit textbook maf behavior. Either that, or they will stick out as being no shows. This philosophy does not hold as true with a more experienced team but a lot of you guys are not as experienced and it seems highly unlikely that the three mafia happen to be high experience.

I'm usually late to put my vote on someone D1 unless something really big/scummy jumps out at me, especially since the day is mostly a crapshoot. I think Vinnie has the most pressure on him of anyone in the game right now and he's usually pretty responsive to posts directed at him, so I'll wait to see his response to this current string of posting before voting.

It takes a bit for the ball to get rolling anywhere. It's the activity level so far that is surprising me. I am used to 1000 posts in 24 hours, this has 12 more hours in the days and four of us have yet to even show up. Out of 12 people that's a lot!

Well how do you expect that ball to start rolling? It seems to me you're just waiting for someone else to get the game started while you continue to coast. These reasons seem a lot like the ones I used to put my vote on Vinnie. So far, which interactions have lead you to any kind of reads? And which reads would that be?

yeah I'd imagine on sites/forums dedicated to mafia the postrate is much higher. This game is starting a bit slower than usual but the start time was also a bit late for NA posters, who make up a majority of the game so it should pick up soon.

What do you guys think of theyounggun not noticing the game began? Do you think there is any way, as either alignment, that he would be unaware of this? It is not like the host just announced it 5 minutes before it started!

Well, since this is not a forum dedicated to playing mafia, our games to tend to have slightly less activity than normal mafia games. And also, a lot of people live in different timezones (hence for example why I haven't been around for the start of the game). But yes, I do agree that the activity for this game is VERY low, so I'm happy at least you seem to be willing to engage in serious posting. A lot of people have a lot of talking to do when they get in here.

And no, we can't display more than 25 posts at the time.

I don't have a single clue why he would post that. I mean, everyone received a PM a couple of hours before the game started. Also, there was no other reason to specify why he came in at that time (or make excuses why he came in at that time), because almost half the players hadn't even showed up yet and there was barely three pages of dialogue. The more I think of it, the more I wonder why the first thing he did before even reading the topic was making excuses for not showing up earlier.

It's not even just posting, I try to look at effective posting as well. Posts that actually mean something. Vinnie for example has posted 12 times according to the counter. None of them add anything, at all. They were just answering questions I had about the game. I admit that many of my posts are asking these types of questions but someone like vinnie could answer then and still mention  his thoughts on other, more game-related things as well. He hasn't.

That's another thing, his first post was 4 and a half hours after the game began, and nothing of too much relevance was posted. It isn't like we posted 200 times and he has a lot of catching up to do. I just do not get how that post was sincere.

To me, it almost looks like image preservation. You know? Mafia care the most about looking town, so they try to apologize and make excuses often. That to me should be secondary. I want to find the mafia first and foremost. I think if you do a good job of that, or at least posting coherent thought processes, then looking town will come naturally.

I think his opening post is odd:
LewisRichards wrote on 01/07/17 at 23:24:50:

I think it reads in a kind of fake casual tone, he could have just posted his opening thoughts and moved on to re-reading what he missed but had to make an excuse.

Kind of a "checking in just to make sure I'm checking in" vibe.

On inactivity: I also think there's a difference between general inactivity and the "pop in, post a quick summary of events, leave" inactivity. The first is most likely random affiliation but either way a solid lynch target (especially with everyone having power roles) whereas the other is a much stronger maf lean.

TYG's opening post fits into the latter category btw.

Open quotes in different tabs and later copy them into one post. Takes a bit more time, but it's easier on the eyes.
