No offense, but I think it's a bit childish to play that card every time to prevent even the chance of a reasonable debate. It's almost as if it's only the history that counts, whereas the discussion should really be about whether a certain set-up is better / more enjoyable/ fairer / etc. But, I've long surrendered to conservatist attitudes and decided I will enjoy CDM no matter which broken system is used.

To end on a positive note, I am proud that the community has embraced (or at least accepted) the 'Belgian system' for the group stage in recent editions. That might have been controversial too at some point in time, but I really think it has proven its worth and is therefore there to stay.

Being childish would be "if you do this I will not come" which is absolutely not my point. I have no power on anything related to SMK events and even if I had I would not used it this way – which would be much more than childish, to be honest.

There are many debates where I'm much more open than anyone else, and I think you're forgetting a bit quickly how the very old & "roots" SMK championships evolved to an international competition with all the visibility that came with. Please.

Belgian system is something I was skeptical about at first, but I wanted to give it a try, and I'm happy to see that's better than I expected (even if I miss the previous one, still for personal reasons based on pure taste and don't feel the need to develop there). Losers bracket is something which just doesn't go with my conception of a final phase, so I don't want to take part into a competition using it, that's all.

Once again, it's funny how people say "if you don't like something, get the fuck out" but criticize your behaviour and speech when you say "I'm getting the fuck out because I don't like something". Wink

EDIT: oh and I don't give a fuck about how EVO works. I'm not into e-sports and I thought that was really clear in everyone's mind after the CDM 2016 "e-sports experience".

Because if you reply in the way you did, it can only come across as a move of putting pressure on the decision. What other function could there be? If you were merely excercising your right not to come, then you could just as well shut up and not reply at all. Either that or argue the point based on its pros and cons only, regardless of your participation. See the difference?

Also, EVO was a thing before there were e-Sports, so don't go there. It's not about e-Sports, it's about bracketing systems and whether they can be interesting and succesful. Obviously, both alternatives are viable. Dismissing one or the other as complete bollocks is extreme short sightedness, as it's not such a day and night difference at all.
