Also if I were mafia, I would try to post as if I were town, even is that implies bussing my teammates way too much. Sure, I'm far from being a good player, but this may not be a bad strat. After all mafia are caught because their behavior deviates from good town behavior. This is also why I hesitate in listing town leans.

You weren't around for the first game we did. In the first game I posted upper half of the game but not the most. However, I posted probably 3 times more in the mafia chat than I did in the actual game thread, because I like to be the "behind the scenes mafia mastermind" when I am a member of the mafia. In the second game where I wasn't mafia, I was generally posting more than anyone else.
Now, of course because I know that, I could try to post a lot during another game where I was mafia. However, I would not be doing that in a way that put me directly in the spotlight, which I have been doing this game. I don't see in any way how that would have been smart for me to do today as a mafia member. Because I am vanilla town, I know that I have nothing to lose by being in the spotlight whereas as a member of the mafia it is way more risky.

Okay, which was your first game? I'm around since mid-2014 and I've read most posts (might've skimmed some) on some mafia games that occurred even before I joined.

Also, how is being on the spotlight so risky, specially for a good player that knows how a townie should act like and is extremely careful to avoid slips?

I'm being careful with Racer. I've been burned once attacking him, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now. But I'm not a fan of his image-focused posts, as he's way to worried about how the town views him than scumhunting (that's defensive play, which is what we want to avoid).

My first forum game was Shock's high power game from a couple months ago.

Being in the spotlight is risky because you are naturally more likely to get lynched that way. I think that's pretty self-explanatory, people are more likely to lynch you because you've been giving more information and because people are forced to react to your posts, so you get more info that way.

As sportsguy brought up, I like to be a huge planner in these games if I'm mafia. Plannings with the night kills, plannings with the line of attack mafia will use the next day, etc. Do you really think my plan D1 would be to go directly into the line of fire by forcefully reacting to Alaktorn and making myself a lynch target? If I was a mafia member, even if I liked that plan I would definitely prefer it to be a different mafia member taking the heat so I could be alive to continue planning.

Look at someone like Zwiebel. By virtue of not having posted at all, he has garnered no suspicion as of yet. Now, eventually the heat goes on non-contributers, but usually not so much D1.

Leone has 4 quick votes on him, if I were to pick one mafia on there it'd be Dan, based solely on the fact that he hoped onto that wagon very quickly. Looks as though he's really trying to divert attention away from himself (and maybe even where the main focus was in general like ALAK, PAF, Racer).

Can you guys explain a bit better why you voted Leone, I'm having a hard time making reads based off his first few interactions. I know about the Dan/Leone school of thought out there, is there any other reasons?

This is such a cheap way to do a complete 180° turn. "I likely misread". That's such a maf thing to say. Why would he bother to make a quite informed vote to start the game, only to remove it immediatly when someone calls him out on it? It totally feels like he realized that he was not in sync with the main stream and that he quickly tried to adjust so that he wouldn't stick out that much.

Anyway, I'm really curious to see what Leone has to say for himself when he comes back. I think this is where the pressure should be at this point.

This is very scummy and bad play. Just because it's day one does not mean you can just sit back and wait for Maf to pull a misslynch. If you are actually town, you should be looking for clues, anything that looks scummy, not just sitting back with your joke vote from earlier. This is either awful awful lazy town play, or a scared Maf who doesn't want to get caught. Either way, this kind of play makes you look bad and I don't like it.

TvK, I actually liked that post from PAF - indication of forming independent conclusions on the 2 players regardless of their votes. The votes are useful too of course (is it m/m or has he misread one of them?), but I think his response to your question is townie-like.

Most of this day's conversation has been dominated by Dan/Michele argument, I think m/m here is possible but highly unlikely. Something tells me we're going to have to choose between them at some point. I still don't like Michele's approach, pressuring Dan gives him 3 options (defend, retaliate, nothing), and somehow Dan doing defend/retaliate is what gives the scumread? I would have gotten more of a scumread had he done *nothing* rather than doing something lol.

I haven't yet liked anything from Racer or YS, everything has either been slightly pingy or just fluff.

Leone needs to get in here and explain himself too, otherwise he's the easy lynch choice for today. Keep the pressure here for now guys. For that reason:

It’s not just the defense-retaliation, it’s the content of his posts. I’ve called out all the posts I thought were bad, it should be clear to good players what I mean. What’s your experience with Mafia? I know in Resistance you absolutely have to clear yourself if you’re Rebel (at end game, anyway), but in Mafia doing “nothing” (or rather not addressing it much and going after others to try to scumhunt instead) is a legitimate Town tactic.

This is very scummy and bad play. Just because it's day one does not mean you can just sit back and wait for Maf to pull a misslynch. If you are actually town, you should be looking for clues, anything that looks scummy, not just sitting back with your joke vote from earlier. This is either awful awful lazy town play, or a scared Maf who doesn't want to get caught. Either way, this kind of play makes you look bad and I don't like it.

I play the same way if i am mafia or town.

This doesn't help your case, it just shows you don't care day one either way. It's even a rule you should play to win. This only makes me lean towards Maf more.
