Wifi Guide: tracks explained in detail
08/01/16 at 14:14:15

Hello guys Smiley! While talking with some guys (Okami, Wouter,...) on Skype, we've wondered why no TT guide hasn't been created yet. We all know we can have perfect lines and still be quit far from WRs because strats aren't implemented in our runs. Some strategies aren't even known by more than 3-4 players, if not one! Even if live videos and replay help, some things are really difficult to notice. Therefore, I would like us to share every strat you know. This guide will be completed step by step. Hopefully the bests players of each track will be participating in this project ^^. Strats written there will be checked to see if they are faster before being officially on the guide. So if you have timing tips and more, here is the right topic Wink. Something similar will be done for a wifi combo no shroom run (wheels are monsters, but a 3rd section will show the strats with others combos). If you are interested, we could also write some tips about item usage (shrooms on RRM,...).
I will start to write tomorrow! Thanks in advance for your participation!

In fact, Bowser + Bruiser + Red Monster + Beast Glider should be used in every track. CCL is one of the weakest WRs because of that :fp:

CCL? Are you serious? This combination is just terrible and much slower for water tracks, It's impossible to get a WR with this.

Sorry my topic has been created twice apparently Sad( Okay, I will check but was that guide done by asking the bests?

Edit: my topic isn't aimed to be a description of what we can see in a video though. For TC for example, the way to approach the tunnel will be described as well as the timing for the shroompost and the way to do the shroomless strat, high jump or not,...

This is the thread I've made. http://www.mariokart64.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1467036969 Unfortunately, like I said before, my computer got fried and I put all of the other tracks on word, but not on that thread so all of the MK7 tracks got deleted. I haven't gotten to the retro trakcs yet. It isn't 100% indepth, but it is getting there.

I think Mence is aiming more towards track specific guides written by the best players possible for each track, where you won't just explain how to drive but will also describe the small track specific things like the best angles or small inputs that are often only known by the best players for each track. For example on S2 of MW NG you shouldn't randomly start your drift but time it so the floor in the cave moves you forwards a bit, or on WS where you should release your red mt on the first turn as soon as you touch the water to gain a stronger boost. Your guide is well written but lacks these things, meaning that if we follow your guide perfectly we're probably still not near WR or even top 10 level. Right now for example I'm playing rKC but a run with clean driving won't give me better than 02:07.8xx, which is over a second slower than the best time on the track.

I see what you mean. You guys are definitely more qualified than me, and have ties with the best players in MK7, unlike me, so I think you guy should definitely be able to do this better than me. I'll give you the go ahead since i'm still pissed off my stuff got deleted, and I don't think I'll be motivated enough to do it again anyway. Good luck on doing it, and pray you don't have anything unfortunate happen to your files.  Smiley

Although I have officially handed over the reigns for this, I still would like to write the guides for rBC1 G and rBC1 NG since I am really good at that track and feel I have the know-how on that track to write an in depth guide for it. If that's okay with you. Smiley

Yeah for sure, thanks a lot for this! I guess some guys like Tvk could confirm it. I could ask Earl also, if he has things to add. I'm writing the PPS guide atm in the other topic, I will ask for confirmation to top players there too ^^

This is definitely way easier to do compared to doing all G and NG tracks. Only doing 1 or 2 guides really takes a load off comparatively. Thanks for taking this off my shoulders, Mence. I can finish G/NG rBC1 in a week or so.

I can arrange that, and I already thought of that too. But yeah let's do that when it's finished and worth adding to the site.  Wink

So at MKDD they have in the sidebar a link to this page:
http://home.online.nl/tbeuman/mkdd/
That is exactly how it should be. Not that I'm asking this from you Mence, or anyone else. But wow, TvL did a excellent job there.
And if you click on strats, it has all tracks explained in detail.
