MKSC Decathlon

Just an amusing game I thought I'd try out with you guys. Simple rules: complete the following 10 'events' as quickly as possible. The number of points you get is (site record / your time)*1000. So, if the best result on record is 100 seconds, and you get 99 seconds, you score (100/99)*1000 = 1010.1 points. If you score 200 seconds, your score is 500.

You can play these events individually and try for a new high score, or you can accept the decathlon challenge and 1-try all 10 of them in a row and sum up your points!

Unless the event explicitly mentions otherwise, only lapskips are banned. Other SCs, ticking, and ZZMTing is acceptable, unless otherwise ruled out.

I tried to make these 10 events diverse, so good luck!

MKSC Decathlon

Event 1 - Back to the roots: No MTs, non-ticking (SR: None yet)

Open up TT mode. Complete PC, MC, and LC. You get 1 try on each. If you tick, your score for the event is 500, regardless of finishing time. Every time you MT is -50 points.

Event 2 - bop the CPUs: No restrictions (SR: None yet)

Open up Quick Run. Settings: coins off, no items, 5laps. Complete RMC1, making sure that you bump into every CPU character at least once.

Every CPU you don't hit: -50 points
2nd place or worse finish: -50 points

Event 3 - Ice: No restrictions  (SR: None yet)

Open up TT. Go to RVL1. You guessed it - clear out every ice block. Each ice block you miss is -100 points.

Event 4 - gimme the cheese: No restrictions  (SR: none yet)

Open up TT. Go to CL. Hit every mouse. It doesn't matter which laps you do it, just make sure you hit every mouse at least once.

Every mouse you don't hit: -100 points.

Event 5 - Which way again?: No restrictions  (SR: none yet)

Open up Quick Run. Settings: no coins, items on, 5lap. Go to RP. Complete one lap backwards by going to the shallow water to the left of the bridge at the start. It's actually possible to make it to the track on the other side of the finishing jump without getting fully submerged in the deep water. Even if you can't do it, you should be able to get far enough backwards that Lakitu can drop you on the track on the "correct" side of the last jump.

2nd place finish: -10 points
3rd place finish: -20 points
...
8th place finish: -70 points

Event 6 - Blinded: no restrictions (SR: None yet)

Open up TT. Go to RMC1. Close your eyes, tightly! Make sure they're closed before you hit the last "OK" on the menu screens. Complete one lap without looking at the screen. After the lap completed sound comes on, you may open your eyes and complete the run. Record the lap 1 time that you see.

In Decathlon mode where you go through every event, you get 1 mulligan - if you don't like your first attempt, you may try one more time. You cannot take the better of the 2 times - once you retry, you've thrown out your first attempt.

Event 7 - but I need to go the other way! - no restrictions (SR: None yet)

Open up TT. Go to SGB. Complete 1 lap without pressing Left on your D-pad. If you touch left for even 1 frame, your score is 500. Hint: think AB spins...

Event 8 - finally, something I can do again: no restrictions (SR: None yet)

Open up TT. Complete SW shroomless, and hit every shy guy tent. It doesn't matter which laps, just hit them all at some point or another.

Event 9 - no A button: no restrictions  (SR: None yet)

Open up TT. Choose PC. Complete lap 1 without pressing the A button. (Remember, don't get the startboost.) Consider ticking when using your shrooms... If you run out of shroom power, you can drive in reverse using B+D-pad. If you press the A-button at any time, you take a score of 500.

Event 10 - thank you jesus, almost done: no restrictions (SR: None yet)

Open up TT. Choose CCI. Use only 1 hand! Now complete the course. Your best lap is the time you submit here. (Are you crazy enough to try WR strat? Remember that you can shroom over the wall or through the gap...)

FAQ:

If you get a bad score, or you know you're gonna get a bad score, don't worry. For the events where it says that if you break a rule, you take 500 points - that's the minimum score for that event. You can't score worse than the "cheater" (intentional or not) score. So try your best anyway.

SR = Site Record. If you complete the Decathlon without a SR present, make sure you report your times. You'll automatically get 1000 points. Otherwise, the SR is the best score anyone ever got, whether it was while they were attempting the full Decathlon or not.

If some of these are too hard, I'm willing to change them out. I haven't tried any of them yet.

Good luck!

Event 9, 13"70: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rt24NSiClWM

Hugely improvable, but just getting the 3 shroom wall hit like this isn't a simple task.

Nicely done, Etch.

Forgot to post: event 5 - 2'28"23

It wasn't a clean run, but I can't seem to get better RNG than in this run. It had 4-5 shrooms (which each save about 4 seconds), and I didn't get struck by lightning. Most other runs seem to have some combo of not getting shrooms, getting shocked, and/or just poor driving on my part. An actually clean 0-shroom run and neutral CPU RNG gives me around a mid 2'40.

Just curious: for events like Event 1 (or just in general), do we use in game timers or do we use livesplit (or other timer) to get the total time? Like, do we use for example 50"00, 57"00 and 1'10"00 for the courses or a total time with menuing at around 4'30"00?
