I need help with getting better at MK7

I am a new player and going through tracks trying to get at least a beginner D rank. Currently i'm really struggling with melody motorway and really can't seem to get even under 2:02 I've looked at various ghosts from 2:01 to 1:54 range, copying their strategies, quite a few used mushroom wheels so I tried them out but only managed to pretty much equal my current record which I achieved with red monster wheels. I've looked at the high tier players on youtube and all of them use gyroscopic mode. is this where im missing out? How much does gyroscope mode improve your times and what's the best way to practice and adapt to it because I find it really hard to use. I also play MKDD, MKDS and MKSC and have no trouble getting Intermediate - Advanced times, MKDD being my best mario kart game i can do SSMT and A-tech fairly well. This has lead me to think, is MK7 just harder overall? Are the standards just harder compared to other mario kart games?

When I started with mk7, I also thought that everyone was playing in first person view because of those youtube vids that I watched. Well, they are not. Everyone plays in third person view (except Valen) and all those videos you watched, were played in third person view. It's the replay that is in first person view, because mk7 doesn't have a decent third person view replay.

If you want to get good at mk7, you first have to understand everything mentioned in this post:

These simple tips should get you to beginner or intermediate rank.
And keep watching those vids, you will start to understand the strats after a while. Wink

And damn i wondered why on earth they played in first person because it feels impossible. I haven't been able to find any good strats & tips sites so I'll definitely get looking into that post right now!

Someone should write a beginners guide for MK7, with a short write up for each track explaining basic strats. Basically like the first post of the Course and strategy discussion thread, except finished lol. And let's be honest, it's impossible to find anything you're looking for in the 70 odd pages of that thread. Then we could add a tips and tricks/ strats link on the PP no?
