A: If you have a visiting role, you will receive a PM saying that you are roleblocked. If you are protected by the doctor you will not be aware. If you protect someone successfully you will not be informed that you saved correctly.
I think this is important, by the way, so I'm going to talk briefly about it here, just in case we have people who are reading the thread but not the rules + clarifications
carefully.
Do not say in thread that you were roleblocked the night before! Why? This basically tells the mafia that their roleblocker hit a non-vanilla Townie. Saying you were roleblocked is basically no different than hardclaiming that you are non-Vanilla. This is terrible unless you really think you have information that should be presented and it's time to claim.
Next, I want to voice what I think are good ways to play the town power roles, because organization and ordered assimilation of information is going to be crucial for us to win. I'd hate for a smart mafia to find our Cop early due to their potential inexperience, for instance, and I wouldn't want our Vigilante shooting a near-clear because they feel overwhelmed with all the information in the game and want to act but aren't sure how. So, here's how I would strive to play these roles:
CopI recommend playing like a Vanilla Townie as best you can. I won't lie, this role will take some prudence. On the one hand, you want information to get out to the Town, but on the other hand, if you're not careful the Mafia will pick up clues and figure out that you're the Cop. Until you die or hardclaim though, Mafia will figure out who you are before the Town does if you give funky reads and leans. For this reason, I suggest that you leave your Town and Maf leans only when asked and when you feel like it as if you were V, and make sure you leave reasoning that's independent of your scan results. But of course, let a little bias about who you talk about creep in there. Just enough so that you're not outed, but if/when you die Townies can go back and infer that you scanned certain players.
Also, pay attention to the pros/cons of revealing. I would reveal if I found say, 2-3 townies who are all still alive. This puts the Mafia into hot water quickly because they are then basically forced to kill your confirmed Townies. Consider revealing regardless if you get RB'd, because the Full Role Cop might have found you.
Who to check? Anyone who would give the Town a good amount of information if their alignment were known. You can also consider checking who you think experienced players are, because they can be hard to read otherwise. I would not check people on the extremes of the spectrum of who the Town thinks is Town/Maf.
VigilanteI recommend that you don't go off your own leans and intuition entirely when deciding if to shoot and whom to shoot. Base your decision off what people overall seem to be saying. It's also ok to not shoot - this could have the benefit of misinforming the Mafia roleblocker that the person they RB'd the Night before is Vigilante when they're really Vanilla. So shoot when somebody is pretty high on the Town's scum radar, shoot in cases of Cop finding a maf and outing them, and don't shoot if there isn't a player sticking out as likely maf and/or you want to try to trick the Mafia roleblocker.
DoctorTry to think like the Mafia. If you were them, who would you kill? Why? In general, Mafia could try to off someone who seems like a vocal, contributing, helpful Townie, or they might guess that you'll guard them and instead aim for a lower-hanging fruit. You could try to find someone who's posting like Lafungo was in the last game I hosted. As the Doc, do your best to just relax and post a lot or not much depending on your style, and don't be afraid of a little spotlight. You don't want to
be the person who was posting like Lafungo last game. You can't heal yourself after all.
DeputyI don't think there's anything to say here other than to refer to what I wrote about the Cop, except until the Cop dies you ARE a Vanilla Townie. lol
Now I wonder how many posts occurred in the time I took to write up this post...
