It would have given us a dead maf and live j-cop. Mafia may have been down to 4 already after n1 and we would have 1 more townie.

I personally would have taken that scenario over this one any day.

Just wanted to add that i feel good about Dan's posts today. I think i answered most questions and made some analysis. Tomorrow i'll come with some questions and more analysis.

I think it's far too easy to be critical of Brett's D1 play in retrospect, but with no information on D1, it was far safer than going after an inactive Walter. Regardless, I'm not going to continue the argument any further, as it's pointless now that all relevant parties are dead.

It would be extremely coincidental that he claimed a specific name of a mafia role. When I first read through the info page before the game started I didn't commit any of the role names to memory and when I was PMed my role as lookout I looked over them one more time but that was it.

To slip up and say the name the way Web did can't go unnoticed.

Speaking of roles, who should I watch for my N2 action?

sure, you can prove it Huh whats your role ?

This is the problem, I'm backer. I backed Brett but he is dead so no one can back me up. Embarrassed
The odds of 2 backers are low so either the RNG was weird or Sam/TvK is m/m

From the 3 roles, odds of 2 backers is 22% thats not counting the 4 random town roles

If Walter is mafia he doesn't seem like a threat. There's no reason to bandwagon him d1 especially when he can't defend himself.

On the page before Sportsguy called on Walter to post more and then you even gave an excuse for Walter saying that he hasn't been online since his own post. Now would a first time mafia player like TYG really feel the need to defend his buddy when he:

- is barely under any heat?
- his situation [of being offline] has already been explained and he is, therefore, covered?

Locky wrote on 05/17/16 at 13:25:04:
-snipped out a sizeable post, click to see it!-

Then he logically states that there is no point in lynching Walter today as he made very few posts and we should wait for D2 where he might talk more

His progression and thought process seems natural too. TYG thinks Walter isn't around and has made very few posts and therefore should not be lynched.

TvK's points do in fact also make sense if he is mafia, but they also make sense if he is town and I've been leaning towards him being town for a while

The issue for me isn't that TYG defended Walter, but rather that he insisted on it beyond what was necessary. I disagree with you in particular on this part:

I think this is exactly the kind of pitfall a rookie mafia player would fall into, particularly if they couldn't communicate with their teammates.

As for the post that you snip-quoted, those quotes could just as easily be construed as TYG urging his mafia buddy to post, considering mafia couldn't talk privately during the day.

Stop apologizing, what happened, happened. Now, you both seem to be convinced that Web is maf. With that information, combined with the people whose alignment is confirmed (dead) or nearly confirmed (Sam, Zarkov, Eoj...), reread every interaction that Web had with other people. If there's anything that jumps out at you as suspicious, than quote it here. That's the way we're going to have to find Web's scumbuddies.

and I agree with Brett on eoJ's status. It doesn't make sense to lynch him when his claim could be verified. If we could grab a cleared town early in the game that would be helpful to draw mafia actions as well as learn information about posters.

So I also wouldn't vote eoJ today, I could be convinced to move to J-Cop if his wagon gets more traction but for now I'm sticking with my vote.

I don't know if I'm jumping the gun here, but I've just reread the entire first day to see how Web interacted with other people. Once again, I can't help but find that the most suspicious interactions are with Tyg.

The only times they explicitly mention each other come in the first 11 pages. For no reason, the first time Tyg mentions Web, he says this:

LewisRichards wrote on 05/14/16 at 18:20:58:
Hmmm
Town:
I think Locky is probably town
I think Kyle is too, Dan raised a good point that he would probably act like that either way.
thewebinator and Za€ also seem like town...

I still don't have opinions on the others yet...

No reason why, at all. The only thing Web had done by then, was asking a couple of questions to Vinnie. Then the first time Web mentions Tyg is on page 11:

Web wrote on 05/15/16 at 06:10:24:
Locky wrote on 05/15/16 at 04:49:55:
[vote]kyleb30[/vote]

Nvm, thought I might cast a thewebinator vote but upon re-reading I chose not to. I would however appreciate if he gave us some mafia leans [has only mentioned his town ones, being Brett and Vinnie]

Plus Kyle didn't really do much after my post other than reply and note that he has a TYG mafia lean

Just woke up, re-reading now. So far (as of this post I'm quoting),my biggest maf lean is TYG (for his  ridiculous entry post). I also think it's likely that one of the members that seems absolutely clueless but hasn't posted much (Zac, Racer, maybe even Vinnie) is mafia. A bunch of people were giving the angle that they would have been shut up but mafia have yet to communicate so that accusation is worthless.

I'll post more thoughts as soon as I finish rereading.

He explicitly states that Tyg is his biggest maf lean. However, this is the last time Web ever mentions Tyg. Apparently that maf lean mysteriously disappeared. Web was more happy starting a wagon on Yoshistar, who according to him, was someone I pushed really hard just to gain towncred.

A lot closer to the end of the day, there was another strange string of posts, in which they don't really interact, but I think it's worth noting. Yoshistar's wagon (yes, the one that Web started and the one that Tyg was comfortably riding) was at 9 votes. J-Cop's was at 5. Web was still adamant about his vote on Yoshistar, until suddenly he got a change of heart in this post:

Web wrote on 05/16/16 at 05:21:47:
Robertvz wrote on 05/16/16 at 05:07:01:
And yet he wants to save Joe due to Joe's experience, funny how that works eh? It's just more noncommittal stuff from Jon "yeah they could be mafia but they could also be town" seriously that doesn't help. It's like the third time he's decided to take the fence sitting approach to things.

I agree it is odd that after saying that his vote is on Yoshistar rather than eoJ. Looking at the post he made defending eoJ:

J-Cop wrote on 05/15/16 at 12:39:00:
I'm not as convinced about Joe as some of you are.  It would be a huge slip for a maf to make himself look so bad on D1, and Joe has been maf many times before.  He knows how to play the part, I doubt he'd make it so obvious this early in the game if he really was mafia.  As for Yoshistar, he's never played on a forum before.  As I've said earlier, new players tend to shoot themselves in the foot because they don't know how to behave yet in a game like this.  He could be maf, but he could just as easily be incompetent town.

I get most of my reads based on how people vote.  If we lynch Joe and he is town, we lose him but have a good read on Clark and Tim, who seem to be pushing the Joe wagon the hardest right now.  If we lynch Yoshistar and he turns up town, it would give us a good read on TvK and maybe Lafungo.  If it's going to be one or the other, I'd rather not lose Joe this early.

He kind of contradicts himself in the first half here. He brings up the point where he says he's really unsure of Yoshistar being maf or town because he's a newbie, but then a later votes him in what seems solely like an act of self-preservation. He even says in the post where he votes Yoshistar:

J-Cop wrote on 05/15/16 at 13:37:13:
J-Cop wrote on 05/15/16 at 12:39:00:
I get most of my reads based on how people vote...........I'd rather not lose Joe this early.

^ Nothing has changed since I said that.  I'm gonna be out for a while, so I'm gonna vote now.

[vote] Yoshistar [/vote]

So since nothing has changed he still feels unsure about Yoshistar, but instead of offering any alternative suspects or any other opinions votes him anyway.

Okay, reading over this again has convinced me that J-Cop is a stronger lynch target because he's trying to fly under the radar and avoid defending himself. At the same time he appears to have completely contradicted himself when discussing his lean on Yoshistar.

[vote]J-Cop[/vote].

I believe this should equalize the wagons at 7 votes each.

Immediatly followed by this post:

Web wrote on 05/16/16 at 05:23:57:
oh wait TYG didn't flip, then it's 8-6 Yoshistar?

Is it just me or does this seem a bit like Web is coaching Tyg to switch votes together with him? And guess who suddenly appears? Yes, you guessed it:

LewisRichards wrote on 05/16/16 at 05:27:14:
Seems reason enough to try and get J-Cop if you guys want me to. We can always get YS another time I guess? I trust Brett's opinions so I guess

[Vote] J-Cop [/vote]

Take a look at the reason Tyg is giving here. He trusts Brett's opinion? Brett had had the same opinion for the last 500 posts. Apparently, Brett's opinion doesn't seem too important while riding another wagon on a townie. And now that Web switched, and specifically even mentions him, now he seems to value Brett's opinion after all.

I might be chasing shadows here, but I'd like to hear other people's opinion on this.

I followed Brett's opinions on a lot of things. I wasn't convinced until later that J-Cop was a better lynch than YS and in previous posts I had suggested switching before thewebinator said that. I guess I can understand your point, especially when you're eager to look for the things that make me look bad instead of good. But a lot of these you can look at either way. I legitimately think that if it weren't for my stupid first post I wouldn't be under attack rn. I've been able to explain everything so far so idk.

Oh yeah,  the first thing on thewebinator.  Brett had a town read on him, and I liked it. That's why I put him town. I've just had a couple bad coincidences at this point and a bad first post.

Also nice pun lol

Idk about thewebinators maf lead on me, but I gave explanations on my first post so that could be why it went away??

And yet he wants to save Joe due to Joe's experience, funny how that works eh? It's just more noncommittal stuff from Jon "yeah they could be mafia but they could also be town" seriously that doesn't help. It's like the third time he's decided to take the fence sitting approach to things.

I agree it is odd that after saying that his vote is on Yoshistar rather than eoJ. Looking at the post he made defending eoJ:

Immediatly followed by this post:

oh wait TYG didn't flip, then it's 8-6 Yoshistar?

Is it just me or does this seem a bit like Web is coaching Tyg to switch votes together with him? And guess who suddenly appears?
