As you would know if you visited the site last night, it was down due to a "509 Bandwidth Exceeded" error. I've never seen this before on this site, but then again I've only been here a year. We were lucky that the month had only 29 days or else it would have been more trouble. That being said, we need to prevent this from happening again if possible. There are a few things that I can think of that may have caused this:

Heavy spam traffic, often this comes from places like China
Too much crawling by search engines: check robots.txt?
Or possibly, we're getting more legitamite traffic these days and actually need more bandwidth.

Whatever the cause, I think admins should look into this to prevent such an issue from preventing access to the site in the future.

Whether I'm imagining wading through frosting in Sweet Sweet Canyon to take a bite of that giant donut, or picturing myself, shrunken down, making my way through Waluigi's pinball machine, there's something rejuvenating about the game that provides a nice reminiscence of the halcyon days gone by.

OK. I hadn't seen this before so I was a bit worried. I guess I feel a bit better knowing that this isn't the first time, but I still think eventually it should get looked into, especially if it becomes more frequent.

40% of our bandwidth is human. Half of it is web crawlers (and they're American, not Chinese), but they're sort of necessary. Googlebot is actually pretty good, but there are some other unruly crawlers that misbehave and eat too many burgers and our kitchen struggles.

I reduced the size of a dozen common images, which may help a little. Plan B is to ban certain IPs.

They index the rest of the site, such as rankings and timesheets.
