My journey from total noob to god!
10/21/14 at 21:40:42

Hi!

My name is Sam, but you can call me Obey. I'm 18yo and I have been looking for a game to waste a lot of time in to while I'm at college here in Quebec. My choice is made, MKDD is the winner.

I'm getting my copy of Double Dash tommorow ( cheapest I found near my house is, believe or not, freaking 50 bucks  Embarrassed ), and I am motivated to get good at the game. Like, really good. Wait ... I want to become great at the game ... I want to become a god at Mario Kart : Double Dash !!.

It's pretty simple what lead me to go back on this game, I feel nostalgia. I used to be decent back in 2006 ( I was a kid, obviously ) and I remember watching videos of a player named Swoof from France and trying to immitate his strats in various course.

I haven't played the game in around 8 years now, and haven't really played any other MK title either, so I really am starting from scratch. I am a total noob as of now.

I'm very pumped to pick-up this new challenge, and I'll try to write where I'm at weekly on this thread. I will fix objectives and a period of times to accomplish it later on.

Hopefully the amazing people here will help me on this journey, and we can maybe even bring the DD forum from the dead, who knows.  Roll Eyes

I also enjoy streaming a lot, so as soon as I get a capture card, I'll try to stream some gameplay and hopefully attract the MKDD community. To follow my stream or see my channel, you can click here => twitch.tv/youbetterobey

Thank you so much for reading guys, if anyone has any question or comments I'll be happy to answer!

Btw, sorry for my english, I'm french-canadian, forgive me.  Shocked

It's always so exciting to see someone start from scratch... Smiley

I hope you make your goals in a reasonable timeframe! I'll tell you now, most karters become inactive or retire because they simply run out of persistence and stamina or motivation. Just be careful about keeping your frustration/exhaustion/non-motivation under control, and you'll do fine.  Smiley

Wow, thanks a lot for the support guys!

Today started with kind of a bad news, I won't be able to buy a T.V. until like monday. ;-( At least I bought my copy of the game, so that's done. Let's just say DD is kinda rare & pricy here in Quebec.

I was looking forward to play all day today, but whatever, It'll only be more fun when I'll actually get the  chance to start the journey.  Grin

Good luck! It's a long way to GOD, as some courses may... really let you struggle in the future. I will tell you from now: Donkey Kong Mountain will never be your friend Cheesy

Hi ! it's a cool project ! I can reassure you, I started to do time trials 3 months ago, and I've just got the Expert D level. MKDD is awesome for time-trial, it's very technical and the strange physic is just perfect XD.
Good luck from France, and don't get discouraged if you fail a time by hitting a car or fall into the void !

You know, if you already miss 2 MTs in a row, it's a reason to restart... there will never be a 3rd missed MT in a row Roll Eyes

Starting to get the A-tech down also, so that's pretty fun.  Smiley

EDIT: Well, just got a 1"59"665, and I still easy can go under 1"58"00 IMO

I don't get what this post is saying because you can find many places in a home (execpt bathrooms and kitchens) to play it.

I wonder what the record for most MTs missed in a row is. If it's more than 5, I would feel worried.
