That could turn into one of the biggest crapfests the MK8 site/players would ever have to deal with.

i think they'll just let people be able to play the tracks online to advertise them.

online is an uncontrolled enviorment and you can't play the tracks whenever you want there anyway. it's about the same as playing the DLC stuff on a friend's console. you still get to play them without paying for the DLC.
the real treat is playing them when you want and you have to pay for that. same with characters and karts which you'd be able to see online but not use unless buying the DLC.

Yeah, these are games that Wii U Basic owners can get on disc, not patches they're forced to download in order to play online. There's no 2 GB patch as far as I am aware.

Games bigger than 3 GB already existed at the launch of the Wii U in 2012, where both packs were released, so it's a non-factor.

The 8 GB Wii U is not discontinued in Japan.

Mario Golf: World Tour is the only Nintendo game I can think of that has online play and DLC courses. If everyone has the DLC courses in the lobby, they can be voted for; otherwise, they don't show up.

DLC courses could only be used in private rooms / communities with code. They are not usable in random matches even if everybody has them.

About PP and the DLC...
For the AF (which is the important thing), I guess it could be a good idea to have 2 AFs: one without the DLC, one with the DLC. Then the real AF is the minor of the two. This way you can either compete without the DLC or with the DLC (which gives you an advantage of having two AFs and taking the minor one, as well as probably minor competition in the DLC tracks since somebody won't buy it, at the cost of having to play 48 tracks instead of 32 and so spending less time for each track).
Idk if anyone has a better idea....

On a second thought, this might not be too bad anyway, as basic strategies will have been developed after the first few weeks by those who play the new tracks earlier, so I don't waste time playing with inferior strats Smiley
