I wasn't sure where I should post this, but I guess here would be the best place, because of the highest WR acitivity. I've compiled a list of players that managed to get a WR on a Retro, after having held the WR on that same track in a previous game. Time truly has no power over them.
MK8Cole: Cole has been dominating on GBA MC since the game came out. But we could expect that. 8(!) years ago, Cole managed to grab the flap WR on the same track on MKSC.
You can download Cole's MKSC flap WR here:
http://wrvids.com/Mario%20Kart/MKSC/mc-1635-Gilbert.wmvRay: Canadiens have thing for this. Ray needed only 1 WR in MK8, DK Jungle, the track he owns. Glitch or no-glitch, retro or nitro. Ray will get it. Now he's just rooting for retro DK Jungle glitch too.
Alexony: The king of MK7 also made the switch to MK8. And ofcourse, where better to start than on a track you fought for the WR since the very first day of the game. At the moment, he's lost his WR on both games, but he'll be sure to fight back.
MK7Shaun: Shaun does something peculiar here. He first gets the WR on the retro track, and 2 and half years later, he manages to do the same on the original track on the original game. Maybe his recent Coconut Mall WR inspires him to get his rCM WR in MK7 back?
G-Danzee: Giulio gets WRs on two games that are totally different in terms of gameplay. 7 years ago, as one of the MKDS greats, he was the first to sub 2 minutes on Waluigi Pinball. In 2011, he returned to the track on the 3DS, getting several WRs again.
Mick: We were bound to find him on this list, as he has held numerous WRs across many games. On MK7 and MKW, he got the Maple Treeway WRs. He wasn't able to hold on to them for too long, but it was more than enough to be mentioned in the list of lists.
And he managed to do it twice on this game. No MKW-MK7 double this time, but the rather special MKSC-MK7. He tied the BC1 flap WR in 2009 in MKSC and he briefly held the MK7 BC1 WR.
Twice I said? Ofcourse I meant three times! And once again, something different. He in fact got a WR on 2 Retro tracks. How is that possible? Because MKSC recycled all of the SNES tracks. Mick managed to get the SNES Mario Circuit 2 WR on both MKSC and MK7.
MKWNOBUO: We know him as the guy that works for nintendo and hoards his strats. But in total, he did manage to get quite an impressive number of WRs. He broke through on MKDD, getting the Peach Beach WR, among others (no video available, unfortunately), and a couple of years later, he got the WR on the same track in MKW.
Cole: And there he is again. It may be a very long time ago, but Cole actually held a couple of MKDS WRs. And ofcourse, it had to be on the track that he so epicly subbed last year. Yes, it is no other track than Yoshi Falls.
And some more Cole. This time on Desert Hills.
Mick: Another we've seen before on this list. Mick seems to have held pretty much every flap WR in MKSC, and he just had to repeat those feats in the newer games.
G-Danzee: The king of Delfino Square had set his mind on the MKW WR long before the game was even announced. And when G-Danzee wants a DS WR, G-Danzee will get a DS WR.
Fabien: We all know Fabien as one of the greatest MKDS players. But he also managed to get one of the very first WRs on Peach Gardens on the Wii.
I might edit this later with some MKDS doubles, but that'll need a lot more research. Make sure to tell me if I missed someone.
