What do you guys use as your main wifi combo ?

I have not played much in wifi yet but I thought using a light character with a lot of acceleration should be a good choice.
My combo is Yoshi + Sports Coupe + Wooden + Super Glider.

Though from my recent experiment it seems that I'm just not fast enough to catch up the heavy combos users... Plus I get pushed really often on the mud / grass and keeping good lines is sometimes tough because of that.

I have the feeling max speed combos have an advantage... what do you think ?

^I tried it but whenever I was hit by an item I lost at least 5 seconds. Guess you have to be lucky to run such a combo.

The fact you refered to the large hitbox of Bowser reminds me that I was also wondering if bikes could be any better in wifi since their hitbox seems smaller.

So far : Yoshi + Biggybuddy + Slick (or Slim) + Parafoil

Anything below cruiser seems to be nerfed from MK7 though, minimal acceleration boost, and you get sent away even farther, including characters that have just been hit.

I will try out different stuff (including inward-drifting bikes, I'd like to be good with them), right now I'm going with a very high accel combo  

DK + Mach 8 + Crimson slims + any glider with accel. bonus

Acceleration is overrated  

Rosalina + Sports Coupe + CSlim + Cloud Glider.
Acceleration combos just don't cut it for me. Though getting item combo'd really hurts.

I like "balanced" speed combo, such as this one :
Morton + Landship + Slick + Cloud Glider

Good 4,5 speed with decent 3,25 acceleration is nice, with decent weight and handling.
Moreover, hidden stats are excellent, especially sea/air speed and mini-turbo (which is a +1 for Landship).

Another option is Morton + Circuit Special + Roller + Cloud Glider, which give a 4,75 speed and 3 acceleration. But rollers on a Formula 1 isn't looking great...

However the 5,75 speed combo is often the superior option, but it's much less reliable due to the 1,75 acceleration stat.

EDIT : just thought that acceleration tiers exists in MK8, so 4,75 speed/3 acceleration is better than 4,5 speed/3,25 acceleration anyway.

EDIT 2 : thinking about acceleration tiers, it might also be a good idea to go with Rosalina + Circuit Special + Slick + Cloud Glider to get in the 2 acceleration tier while keeping a nice 5,25 speed.

So best options are :
- In 1 acceleration tier : 5,75 speed (Morton/Circuit Special/Slick/CG)
- In 2 acceleration tier : 5,25 speed (Rosalina/Circuit Special/Slick/CG)
- In 3 acceleration tier : 4,75 speed (Morton/Circuit Special/Roller/CG)
- Over this, it isn't really worth it

Wario + Biddybugg + Slim + Any accel glider

I use Koopa Troopa + Gold Standard + Cyber Slick + Cloud Glider and Roy + Landship + Cyber Slick + MKTV Parafoil.

Ludwig + Circuit Special + Slick + (accel. glider)

I like Ludwig's evil laugh and his weight class is easier to handle than the super heavies while not being too much slower.  I sometimes play as Iggy, but most of the time it's Ludwig.

I'm using Wario - Mach 8 - slicks and trying not to get hit, cause pressing A rapidly after being hit doesn't seem to speed you up any more than just holding A in this game.

Sometimes I like Toad for his accel.
