This logic is completely flawed. JAPAN ALREADY GOT THE GAME. FORGET ABOUT JAPAN'S OFFICIAL RELEASE DATE, NONE OF THEIR TIMES COUNT!!!! 11.

Any BKTs that still stand should obviously be counted as WRs at midnight est when the official American download date for MK8 is (Actually, they really shouldn't be counted until the official download date of Australia).

Also, how in heaven's name would you know when times were set if there are no time stamps? Yeah, don't ask the impossible of the community.

This game is completely different because there are now semi strong BKTs BEFORE release. No need to compare it to previous games' releases.

The only logical thing to do is document all BKTs set before as being obtained on May 30th/31st.

Imagine MK8 launch like a sprint. Everyone starts at the same time as directed by the organizer of the race (Nintendo). Nintendo sets start point at May 29th (Japan) and May 30th (EU/US). Anyone who finishes a race anytime during May 28th or earlier doesn't officially count because of early/unfair/illegal start. The time needs to be driven on or after the point where Nintendo officially opens up the servers/leaderboards.

As for Alexony's SGB time, I don't know anything about that. So his YouTube account settings could have been configured wrong/falsely. Or there could have been some other timezone malalignment that makes it seem like his run was set earlier than the game came out. Or, hell, maybe he got the game and set the record before the game came out. If that's the case, then I don't think the time should count, but if the community disagrees with me as a whole, then in that event it would certainly be wise to count it as a WR.

And yes, the UTC timezone will be used for the site, so I think we should use the European release date instead of the American one.

Those here who claim their WRs or the WRs of other people MUST post a picture of the top 10 as a proof.

It takes 1 minute to make a post with a screenshot on Miiverse, and like only 2 minutes with the screenshot function using the Wii U Internet Browser if you don't want to use Miiverse. You can also use a camera if you want to report multiple WRs at the same time.

There's no excuse to be lazy if you really care about your WRs, but nonetheless, we could make some exceptions if like, for example, a WR was actually testimoned by an updater of the WR site.

Deal. I'll be staying up looking at the top 10's for several hours after 00:00 UTC so the early onslaught will be under control.

Like you said with the updaters: if I see a new WR, I'll just take a picture of the top 10 in question on my phone as an emergency back-up or something, but I won't bother posting it on here.
