Coins help you change your lines too, just like in MK7 basically. Not more, not less. The only thing that's different is the way to control the kart. It's soooo much harder in MK8 imo.

Are you talking about the Thwomp Ruins run? Can you tell me a time in the video where he loses speed from this (are you saying that if you are not drifting, you shouldn't be turning at all?)

@Alak : For example, getting SMTs in short corners was easy on MK7 as you just needed to jump a bit and that's it, you're back with a proper line, but MK8 doesn't and you go straight into the wall/grass etc if you try this out.

So a few of us on Skype have been discussing these "WRs". We feel that, on release date (May 30th) all records obtained AFTER this release should be counted as WRs. All "WRs" gotten BEFORE then or are BKTs at the time of the game's release are not counted.

It also seems as though the majority of players have managed to get the game three days earlier than release (yesterday) so I'm wondering how this should best be dealt with (if at all).

edit: to make kind of an analogy, Nintendo staff’s ghosts are never counted as WRs, they’re just considered as times you have to beat before you can call your own a WR after release (remember Walter’s MK7 RR “WR” that didn’t beat the staff ghost?); so that’s how before-release times should be considered, too
