I should have expected a Superman reference from you  Smiley

I'll put it another way... pretty much any air disaster nowadays probably warrants its own Wikipedia article.
Complete with a link to a page with the names of all those killed and you might also get your name carved on some kind of memorial to the lost flight somewhere at or near the crash site.

Oh, and thought I've never flown commercially, I heard they cracked jokes a lot on the plane so people don't get too scared.

Indeed, you'd have to be quite a moron generous to swap a Wii U for a useless converter. Good luck! Grin

Im not particularly fond of flying either. I get that its the safest way to travel and all that, and I agree. Cant deny that. Its just that in the event of an accident, your chances of surviving are slim to that of say a car. I avoid flying where possible.

And also to anyone that says its an irrational fear, go do one. Being 38,000ft up in the air in a tin can which is being controlled by someone I dont know is not an irrational fear. Being afraid of clowns is irrational.

I agree Zarkov. Though it's statistically safer than travelling by car, doesn't mean it's irrational to be 'afraid'.  Sharks may kill more people annually than tigers, but I'd still by afraid if I stept in a tiger's cage.  Tongue

Actually the number of people who get killed by tigers is much, much higher than the number killed by sharks. I'd still be more afraid of a big ass shark though as well.

After I'm done with my exams, I would have a chance to play some games.
My goal on SMK PAL is to beat most of Joe's USA records. It won't be that hard to accomplish unlike the NTSC SMK...

Hmm, I was wondering if its easy to sub a minute on MC1 in the PAL format Cool

Maybe because you're less inept in water, so if it does strike you're even more helpless (kinda like being 10km im the air makes you helpless if it does go wrong). Any official stats on that sharks vs tigers thing btw? Your statement surprised me, as there are so few tigers around.

^There are stats out there, just not in any neat easily comparable form (I looked into this a while back, can't remember why though ... was probably having a drunken argument). There are very few fatal shark attacks (confirmed ones anyway),  quick google search will show sites/papers citing figures usually between an average of 3-6 fatal attacks a year.

Fatal tiger attacks however are much more numerous, India has had lot's of recent problems http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-25755104 which seems to be being fueled by increasing tiger numbers and loss of natural habitat forcing tigers to go looking for food in villages surrounding the areas they inhabit. There also tend to be large number of attacks accross SE Asia, then you also have to factor in the number of people who think having a pet tiger is cool (looking at you Americans) http://bigcatrescue.org/4-year-study-shows-tigers-500-times-more-deadly-than-...

Does your TV support 50Hz? Check the back of your TV. It should say "50Hz/60Hz". You might not be able to play a PAL game at all if your TV is 60Hz only.
Also I'm guessing that Nintendo did not make your HoneyBee converter. You take your chances with third-party brands...

If you can't get the game to work with a converter, your next option is to ship your SNES to FFVIMan in France. I can PM his address to you. He'll mod your console so that it can play both NTSC and PAL games. It cost me $46 to ship mine via the U.S. Postal Service. It will get there in about two weeks and then FF will work on it during the weekend (he works out of town during the week). He doesn't speak English, so if you want to communicate with him it will have to be in French (but it's preferred that you speak French to French people anyway)

When he sends it back to you (which will cost him about the same), it will come with instructions in French. Press L+R+SELECT+Y to make the game run in 50Hz, which is the proper speed. The "power" light on your SNES should be green. Note that the game will be in black and white. (NTSC TV sets cannot decode PAL color data)
You can make the game run in color if you play in 60Hz but it won't run properly (Lakitu's starting lights don't match up with the beeping sounds you hear, and the Kart goes way too fast) so just use black and white, 50Hz mode.

Fairly sure with those convertors that you need to put in both an ntsc game and the pal game you want to play at the same time, thats why there are two slots in it. Can't remember if it's pal in front or at the back but would be one way or the other. I also seem to remember them recommending using a game cartridge with no battery backup as the host (ntsc) cartridge.

A quick google search brings up this instructional video (didn't watch it though)

PAL games won't run on an NTSC machine. What you bought is for converting Super Famicon (Japanese) shaped games to our American machines.

If you want to run PAL games, you're going to have to do what Nick says (which I didn't know you could do, thank you for that), or do what other North Americans have done and buy a PAL system, a power converter, an outlet converter, and a TV that supports 50hz in black and white.

The converters can be bought at Radio Shack and look like this:

Hope that helps.

^You sure about that Joe? I know that convertor is meant to play ntsc games on pal systems and vice versa. One of my friends had something similar when the snes was fairly new and used it to play jap/usa imports on a uk pal snes (never heard of anyone using it in the other way to play pal on ntsc console though).

Gotch'ya! Smiley

oh, I just had good news and bad news:
Good news, the converter works with UK and US consoles. In other words, it's both PAL and JPN!
Bad (STUPID) news), the honey bee does not work with games that have an FX chip, Unfortunatly Mario Kart is one of the dozen or so games that uses an FX chip.
