I tried being hype for this game but really hate the drifting system. It's gonna be another super easy gameplay preventing you from going faster than normal speed and developping hard strats. I am terribly disappointed Nintendo definitely gave up on producing rich and complex gameplay like they did so well in the past. Seems like they just want as many people as possible to feel strong at the game so they like it.

I hope I'm all wrong but it's very unlikely since they need money.

If it is anything like Mario Kart 7, then stats will be applied per weight class, not character.

They've ditched two weight classes; feather and cruiser. Light, Medium, Heavy are the three.
Knowing Nintendo, Heavy will be best for Time Trials, and Light will have advantages online.

There is a rumour going around that the ability to freely vote courses online has been changed.

The player has a choice of three courses to pick from, or to pick random.
(Which I assume would randomly select out of the three offered)



This screen follows immediately after.
Here you can see that all 12 players are voting the same three courses, or random.
I'm guessing this is Nintendo's solution to halt people who repeatedly vote the same courses.

Although, if this is also a prominent feature in Friend Rooms and Tournaments...
It may turn some people away from playing.

I expect the worst from Nintendo because of their previous installment—hopefully this isn't forced everywhere.

It would be disappointing to not have all the choices we want, but it's not like it matters all that much.

Not sure if this has been mentioned. But when you get hit, you always lose 3 coins, as opposed to MK7's system of 3 or half your coins, whichever is less.

The player has 10 coins towards the end of the race, gets hit by Shock, Blue Shell, then one of the Lightning Sparks on the zippers.
Goes from 10->7->4->1 coins.

From what I've seen in several videos, touching someone else's mushroom gives you a boost indeed shorter than a mushroom boost and the person actually keeps it. It's not stealing per se as with MK7's Lucky 7.

Looks like you can still do the Blue Shell Dodge. Timing seems pretty similar to MK7.
