In a sense this is good for the coin system because, logically going from 8 to 12, you are going to need to raise the coin amounts on the track. That somewhat mitigates some negativity I have towards the coin system.

If the last retro track that isn't confirmed yet will be in the lightning cup, I think it has to be either GCN BC or Wii BC.
It's very unlikely that there isn't any BC returning and 3DS BC is not possible (there are only spots left in the leaf and the lightning cup so either MP or PPS has to be in the lightning cup).

DS BC is only possible in the leaf cup since DS TTC is already in the lightning cup.

Maybe they'll give us a SNES or GBA BC...

Besides that, Sherbet Land could be a brand new track (because there isn't any ice/snow nitro track yet), leaving a spot for another BC maybe?

We do not have information about this at the moment; we only know it will have “online leaderboards” according to the eShop description. But then it could be like MK7 “““leaderboards””” aka no leaderboards Grin

Yoshi Valley will definitely be in the Leaf Cup since Lightning Cup already has its N64 track. Sherbet Land GCN will most likely be in the Leaf Cup as well since it was a Star Cup track in MKDD and it seems too easy for Lightning Cup (you might be onto something about an entirely new track though, Sherbet land itself set a precedent as well as others, though it's unlikely).

So we can probably exclude the unknown track being from N64, DS, and 3DS versions (and maybe SNES and GBA versions as the team dev has been less and less keen bringing flat tracks back). So basically I agree with you, even though Wario Colosseum would be a much better fit Sad
