Speaking of classic controllers, how does this thing compare to the SNES pad if anyone has it?

It's based on a genuine SNES pad so there's absolutely no difference.

The original Classic Controller - as stated - is based on the SNES pad itself, but the design puts the ZL and ZR buttons in an akward position tucked between the L & R buttons themselves.  For SNES virtual console games, there's no problem at all, but for other games it may prove to be an issue.

The Classic Controller Pro adds in a couple of prongs and relocates the ZL & ZR buttons to below the L & R buttons, making it feel more like a Playstation pad.

In terms of actual feel it is pretty close to the SNES pad, but it's a bit thicker and the L & R buttons are a lot "spongier" - they "click" in like Gamecube pads do, so I would make a resonable assumption that the classic controller itself got an analogue function that's not present on the Pro

Not sure I understood. There are no additional buttons on the SNES pad for Wii...? Huh

There's 3 classic controllers for the Wii.

The Classic Controller (original) - Usually in white the 4 shoulder buttons are arranged horizontally.  The overall look is similar to the SNES pad expect for the extra buttons.  There's also a "bump" in the middle similar to a button, but it was intended for an add-on that never actually got used.

The Classic Controller Pro (variety of colours, black red & gold are the most common I believe) is the PS2-styled ones.

Wii Famicom Controller - A variation of the original Classic Controller that has the same colour scheme and layout of the original SNES pad itself itself did outside of the US.  I believe it has 3 buttons less than the Classic Controller itself (I don't own one so I can't confirm) - those being the "home", ZL and ZR buttons.

A google search ought to provide pics, but I could always link them here if needed.

@OP: I have one, and couldn't manage NBT with it after modding. Though I doubt it's the controller, idk. I can NBT with a GCN controller though on Wii VC.

I still need to find my SFC pad for Wii, make it NBT and give it a try on my Wii VC "copy" of PAL SMK...

EDIT:

No worries - for some reason when I posted last time the previous guys' post of the Wii SNES pad (which is just the Famicom pad in a different box) wasn't showing up for me, so I kinda assumed he was talking about the original classic controller.

From what I've seen, the SNES-style one has digital shoulder buttons, rather than analogue, so that'll be another difference.  Bear in mind I've never actually handled one of the SNES-style ones.
