I'm sure I don't know everyone who has played this year / how long they've played, but there are some players whose names I often hear/see and they spring into my head. Some players that definitely come to mind:

Crocodile Lundeen - Site Champ ofc. Got a lot of new WR's this year. Maintaining around 1.3 AF, even below at times.
Jonathan Toole - Moved from like the 30's or 40's up to like #16 or so, and still rapidly improving.
Frederick Hutchington - Started out way off, and worked all the way up to #12 or so, just outside the top10.
Lachlan Young - Started this year and has been making steady improvements. Even landed RaR 3/3.
Stacy Needham - Never actually stops PR'ing. Keeps pushing forward, even though he's in the top5. Passed Pierre and Chris this year.
Alan McArthur - Started back again, broke into the top10 and fought off Hutch.
Robert Szabo - Mainly played SC this year, but set several WR's and didn't let any of them go without a (at times, irritating) fight. Worked his way up to like #3 SC on the site charts, and he also got some non SC records as well.

I don't think we have too many solid nominees to choose from this year, but here are my nominations:

- Andy for dominating the top even more than he was before, hitting numerous WRs which bring his tally to an insane 66 atm, as well as lowering his AF to the high-1.2, low-1.3 range.

- Nosey for what is probably the most significant climb of the year, as he started the year barely inside the Top 40 (#39 to be exact) yet climbed all the way to #12 (without ZZMT), while hitting many strong times, including several Non-ZZMT WRs.

I would also consider Ethan, but since he's a plonker and doesn't have a full timesheet, I won't. Also, I don't think we have stats for people's AF/ARR from the beginning of the year, which is a shame.

Edit: I forgot about Lachlan (sorry mate). He's improvements over the course of the year have been quite impressive: I think he started playing this year and he's already Top 30 with some very strong times.

I have a lot of respect for Alan consistency and Lachlan's huge improvements with which he even passed the legendary Tom van Kessel, but Andy has been outstanding this year. Countless WRs, even more improved PRs, and all of this without any competition. Getting that AF down to as low as 1.3, just wow. It's so hard to understand what that actually means, but it suffices to say that he's been incredible.

Also, Chris for 2014 POY.

I don't agree with how this poll is set up. To me it seems completely pointless to have 'other', as they obviously don't have any chance of winning. Either put up all nominees, or just currently written 3 (and may I kindly ask how these 3 were chosen over the others btw?)

I used the "other" option because so few people nominated anyone that I felt it needed to be open to people other than just the three (that were mentioned by more than one person). I didn't want to run into "but what about soandso?" despite the fact that only two people (aside from Fenner) even replied to the nominations thread (despite my having left nominations open a week longer than I originally intended). If more people had responded, I could have come up with a more solid poll, but that didn't happen this year.

If you're not counting Fenner's nomination, then the 3 people in the poll should be Andy, Lachlan and Nosey by that criteria. I didn't nominate Alan, but Ethan and I both nominated Nosey.  Wink

Where's Nosey???

It's impossible to ignore the WR juggernauts that Andy and Ethan are but Nosey's climb plus his assortment of non-sc records stands out from the rest of the field.  In terms of going from nothing to something, he captured that the best.  The shortcut table was only introduced this year so it's hard to gauge things like AF as compared to non-sc.  In keeping with the history of the site, non-sc should carry more weight until sc catches up in top 10's prsr department.  That's not to discredit top times being hit because I can tell you they are not easy!

It was a very productive year for many karters, I was happy to get so many new pr's and wr's! Cheesy

I felt sorry and guilty for not posting a nomination, and I came very close to writing a simple 'I would like to nominate these people, but everyone else already got there before me', but I thought that sounded a bit lame. If you wanted more people to post to get an aggregate feeling, you could've just asked Sad
On the other hand though, nominations are only nominations after all, to just prepare and decide which players should be in the poll in the first place, not actual voting.
Also, apologies for way I wrote my last post, I was a little shocked to see a small poll, and so I suspect my tone was a bit bad as I rushed immediately typing it out without pausing first, so I'm sorry for that

Lastly, obligatory thanks for the mention Etch.

I agree that Nosey should at least also be on the nominee list.

Still, my vote goes to Andy. It's kinda sad for everyone else to give one person the POY for 3 years in a row, but then again he has been demolishing MKSC since 3 years and has never stopped since. It's been another great year for him, his Average finish has gotten better and better and he did beat one WR after another.

Props to everyone else though  Smiley

If you asked another question, I missed it (even after going back through the thread). I did ask for nominations -- otherwise it would have been pointless to even start a thread in the first place. I don't think I should have to beg people who regularly check this forum to respond -- if you want to voice your input, you need to do so within the time frame. If you don't respond with nominations, that's your choice. (I'm using a general "you" here, not specifying you in particular.) Either way, posting the thread is asking for nominations. If I didn't want input, I would not open POY decisions to the MKSC community, and I would just pick someone, write a post and call it a year. The nominations thread is intended to be redundant -- that's what tells me who belongs on the final poll.

In terms of why you weren't included on the poll -- when I went back through them, I didn't connect your name on the site with your nickname here, so my apologies there. (That's also part of the reason I left the "other" option -- so if I didn't put enough people on the poll/other people should have been included/etc, there was still an option to vote for those people, because I'm human. It's not an entire lost cause, as that option has been used.) I think it's really too late to go back and redo the poll, but as-is, it should still work.

If I didn't answer your question, feel free to reply.

The feeling of being a world champion is intoxicating, and I didn't want to ever not be the world champion again. Then I realized it didn't matter that much since I had nothing more to prove and achieved my most important goal(s).
