So flaps weren't part of the main charts for MK7 so I wanted to know what everyone was thinking on flaps for the MK8PP whether or not it'll have them count for the main charts or not. Part of the reason I thought we didn't do them for MK7 was because it didn't save your best laps, so would that be a determining factor? Anyway just wanted to hear from people who'll be setting up the new players' page. Thanks.

I could see that happening since Nintendo wants to gear towards more party over competitive play, but if you take away Time Trials it limits the depth of the game. Racing games don't really have a wealth of different modes as it is and Time Trials are a staple of nearly every racing game, sim or arcade style across history. It just seems like it wouldn't make much sense, they can't be that hard to add in to the game.

Well, we can see that, but can they? Nintendo have been making a large amount of ridiculously stupid decisions recently, alienating their fanbase more and more. I have no idea which retards are at the top making the decisions, but I wouldn't put it past them to have the power to fuck something up on this scale too.

Bad decisions:
Involving themselves with youtube and yoinking all profits.

Following on from this, attempting to ban an SSBM stream in an upcoming fighting tourney (evo), where all profits from streaming go to charity. SSBM was put in as the 8th main game after it got the most donations for charity ($90 out of $250 total). Nintendo then reversed their decision, lol.

Making Mario Kart 7.

Making Mario Kart 8.

Not getting rid of region-locking (i.e. not learning from the brilliant u-turn that Microsoft has done with the Xbox One).

They removed single-players versus mode and leaderboards from MKW to MK7, so we're only one step away at this point Smiley

There is still hope though since the game isn't rushed to the market this time (along with Pikmin 3, of all games, to get worldwide leaderboards itself).

I wouldn't put it past Nintendo to not have them again, but Time Trials, and Time Attack has a pretty good following in Japan as well. It's very unlikely that it would be gone.

Could you please elaborate? I doubt it takes a Core i7 4999k to implement leaderboards – other 3DS games actually do have online leaderboards like Sonic Generations. Also there was more than enough cartridge space since MK7 uses a 1GB one and 3DS games can go up to 4GB (or 8GB can't remember exactly). As Rookie said single player VS was in MKDS. In the end I don't see any acceptable excuse; it is obvious the game was rushed for Christmas 2011.

Being a rushed title probably played a bigger part, yes. Limitations are brought up because this is a title that runs at 60FPS, while also being 3D. I have to imagine it's putting some strain on the system.

I didn't mean to lump leaderboards in with the limitations bit. Leaderboards might have been dropped due to wanting to make use of the "community" code feature. Leaderboards could possibly be a deterrent to that.

I'm just throwing ideas out there, I'm not trying to claim anything. Being a rushed title was probably the determining factor for having some things left out, they might have had data on single player versus, and other things as well.

Who knows.

Nah, we will just forget about a MK8 PP... It would just be useless.
I just hope it won't be as rushed as MK7... Mission mode needs to make a comeback! VS mode as well! They'd better not forget it this time. It's a too mandatory mode for MK (not only for single player but also for multiplayer mode).

MK7's multiplayer mode does have a VS mode, its just you have to connect with either DS's to play it.
