Things you may have not known about Mario Kart Wii

Since most of us have played this game for hours upon hours, surely we have noticed some small details that others might not know about.  I'd certainly be interested in hearing about these kinds of things from other players, and maybe as a community we can compile a large list of some of the small quirks of this game.  Even if you're unsure of how obvious something is, post it anyway.  Can't hurt.

I'll begin with just a few things, but I'm sure a lot more will come to mind later.

-DS Desert Hills textured finish line is the farthest back from the actual finish line.
-If you spam button inputs very rapidly during a time trial, you can make the "Unable to create a ghost" message pop up much earlier than 6 minutes into the trial due to an overflow of ghost information.
-There's a 5th type of trick.  Jammed tricks.  It's when you perform a trick and get the boost, but the animation does not activate.  Common when multiple tricks are performed rapidly, or when contact with the ground is made very shortly after tricking.

Didn't you make a similar topic a while back?

The Japanese ISO for this game has a built-in TAS feature that can only be used if your thumbprints match the requirements.

The lowest valid MKWii FC is 0000-0000-0142.

You can confirm this by trying to register all FCs from 0000-0000-0000 to 0000-0000-0142, but I used a much faster method to find this number.

The lowest FC that someone actually has is probably 0001-3xxx-xxxx.

Anything over 54xx-xxxx-xxxx is impossible.

-You can get stuck on a branch of the right tree at the end of Maple Treeway if you go high enough
-I believe you can get stuck behind one of the hanging poster boards at the 2nd set of up escalators on Coconut Mall
-There's no invisible walls over the sc house on Daisy Circuit and you can fall through the house (from the top of it) under the stage

That's all I can think of right now.

If you perform the ubercut from the bridge near the start line to the shroomspot u-turn on N64 Bowser's Castle, drive back up the stairs and then circle Bowser's statue clockwise three times, you unlock Marty.  Roll Eyes

I knew someone that had 0001-3734-4729 I think, it was definitely 0001-3xxx-xxxx tho. Still I kinda wish I knew the logic behind why this is the lowest practical FC but no one can have the lowest valid FC. Is there something in particular that the FC is based off of, or is it just randomly assigned?

I made a topic about the rDH finish line, but this one is a bit different.

And Cole, what was your much faster method?  And do you know what that lowest valid FC is/was used for?

You can do that on BCWii too. Wheelie right before you go off the final ramp and pull back all the way. Hop when you land and it does the same thing. Really weird.

I just remembered, there is that odd effect on mushroom gorge where you can use the zippers to make your bike/kart immune to offroad. I can't remember exactly how it was reproduced, but remember thinking "amg prb" when I got it  Grin

Didn't it have something to do with going backwards? I remember that from 2008 lol.

@ That last clip, on the rPB vid, would it be possible to go on the left and cross the line, then respawn behind the line and hit the last CP, getting 2 laps to work?

The MG PRB was very simple: It's activated whenever you go over one of the ramps before the mushroom sections, and deactivated whenever you hit a red mushroom.

So, say you used a shroom on the ramp before the cave and avoided the reds. Could you then race in the offroad part of the cave?

Yes, but it's not worth doing. If I remember correctly, the effect also reduces your mini-turbo power to zero (the boosts charge and release normally but don't actually increase your speed), so even if it weren't inconvenient to activate, it still wouldn't be worthwhile.

I think it even reduces your speed (while drifting and while wheeling)... To be confirmed.
