What do we think of MK8 from what we know so far?

Having watched the trailer that was released today, I immediately noticed that there has been new gravity features implemented (Galaxy inspired?). I don't know what to make of this in all honesty. It is certainly an approach that I would never have thought of. It could well make the game a much more unique, enjoyable experience, or on the other hand, it could be confusing whilst playing, but it shouldn't affect the game badly too much unless it is exploitable.
I'm not too happy about the inclusion of coins in the game, however. This is mainly because coins control your speed by how many you collect. To get hit midway through lap 3 and lose half of your coins basically puts you at a huge disadvantage, whereas I think getting hit is just enough to put your at a disadvantage. I especially hope coins are not included in TTs though, since they place a limit on what is posible in terms of lines and strategy.
What are your thoughts as of now?

Crash Nitro Kart had anti gravity mode. It came out in 2003, so yeah. I think its before you joined.
As for the thread, we dont know anything about the TTs yet. So im not going to judge, but they better dont have coins.

after having watched a few gameplay vids, I’m liking the game better
for Wi-Fi, I think frontrunning is gonna be good (which is great), because you’re barely stopped by items and can get back up to top speed really quickly
SSMTs don’t look like a possibility to me, but who knows
with all the different paths and shit, TT strategies are gonna be quite complex, but I may like that

Sorry to say it, but just because you thought of it first doesn't mean they stole it. It's just an unfortunate co-incidence.
As regards to the game, I do look forward to playing a demo somewhere but I doubt I'll be buying it. I didn't warm to MK7 at all and would never have played MKW if I hadn't got my Wii for free in the first place (although I did enjoy playing that game, even if I was shit). Buying a WiiU just isn't a worthwhile purchase as far as I can see.
The MK series has lost that touch of simplicity that made the first few games so appealing, what with the horrendous number of glitches and arguments over 50/60Hz, PRB/NonPRB etc that make the competition completely uneven.

Well oxide station in CTR had low gravity outside, not that anyone goes outside on that course when there's a glitch sc that cuts that whole section out though
The upside down thing looks interesting though, apparently in first person while actually playing it's not confusing?

Apparently I hear that bikes doesn't have the ability to do wheelies anymore and to make it up for that loss, bikes now has regular MTs like karts.

You haven't played MK7 much Liam (original post) I assume. Not having a lot of coins isn't game breaking. And if anything they enhance more strategy in TTs than they do get rid of strategy.I like how this game looks so far.

These gravity effects will be a pain in the ass to control with the wiiU pad... Hopefully MK8 will allow us to play with the wiimote as well...
