Actually I think MC3/4 should have a different treatment than CI1.
As there were no "old strat" WRs between the time I drove "new strat" WR and the time it got "accepted" on the main site. (Contrarily to CI1...)

I discussed what our options were with Cole and his suggestions were:

"... to use the "Displayed Date" field to store extra info about these times. E.g. for the CI1 flap, you could set the Date as "2017-07-24" and the Displayed Date as "2017-07-24 (2014-10-10)".

It also might be helpful to add a message in the history pages like "2017-07-24: Rules changed to allow Wall Jump". See the "Shortcut/Glitch Introduced" message on this page for an example: https://mkwrs.com/mkwii/display.php?track=Mushroom+Gorge."

I asked him to try and add these custom edits to the SMK WR evolution page(s), this would be the way to go I'd say, also for MC3/MC4.

@ ScouB --> Yeah, the message is added not to indicate which WRs were driven with the strat, but from what date onwards the new strats are starting to count.

Kind of agree, but it would make it harder for Cole. Right now he just pinned the message to 1 hard date, instead of individual dates per track.

This post is long overdue, but I'm happy to announce that after over 4.5 years since the WR History site was inaugurated, and over 1.5 years since we agreed to include them, I'm finally ready to share this document.
The first tab contains all WR ties I was able to find evidence for.
The second tab contains a list of sources I checked, and some other links I kept for further investigation.
The third tab contains some miscellaneous notes I compiled while looking for WR ties.

Some further notes/comments:
- I found 219 ties in total, ranging from 2000-05-05 to 2017-08-31. 102 ties were in NTSC, 117 in PAL. 60 were 5laps, 159 were flaps.
- 2000 was the year with the least amount of ties at 3, although the data is incomplete for that year (I couldn't find anything prior to May). As far as complete years go, 2001, 2010, 2012, and 2015 are all tied (hah!) with 4 each. 2002, 2006, and 2007 are tied (I can't make this stuff up) for most amount of ties with 28 each.
- Karel has by far the most ties with 51, which is almost a full quarter of the total! Mario and Kartie are 2nd and 3rd, with 19 and 17 respectively.
- Two players have only ever held a tied WR: Tommy Dickinson (11"77 MC1 NTSC flap set on 2003-09-13) and Frederic Duarte-Leite aka fredyball (1'31"32 MC3 PAL 5lap set on 2004-02-07).
- I am very disappointed that Mario deletes his vids for times that are no longer his PR.

If you see anything wrong or missing please let me know. I'm particularly interested in old vids if you happen to have any saved, as most of the vids that were stored on websites like Chris Balch's (https://web.archive.org/web/20050417223853/http://timeofdeath.net/wrvideos.html) in the pre-YouTube days are no longer available for download.
Next order of business (although not likely to happen soon) is to investigate old Japanese times.

Wow, great news Lafungo! Big thanks for the gargantuan effort* and I'm also very curious about your misc. notes.   But like Mario, I can't access the doc.  
Can you contact Cole to add the WR tie functionality to the SMK section? IIRC you had editing rights to add this data (but the correct infrastructure isn't in place yet for SMK)?

Maybe I should add the title of WR tie champion to my signature then.
