Congrats for the quick improvements Mick. Like for Gyara you have already beaten one of my time (BC lap) Grin. I didn't spend much time on the 60Hz mode but it is not a reason to let you ahead of me so I did a little session => Dring Dring 46'3xx => 46'254. Wait to see on which race you will challenge me next time  Wink

The 3lap Hero took a while, but did I smash it when the run came. No really bad laps, and the no-shroomer was surprisingly good considering I played safe and hit the grass near the end.
Not satisfied yet with the flap yet though, but it can wait for another time.

Reached an ARR score of Hero C (13.3125)

I watched your stream a bit, in the afternoon, looks like you can improve your 3lap run by at least 0"5! Smiley Too bad you got nervous at some point between the end of 2nd lap and begining of 3rd lap, otherwise, you would have easily PRed... Don't give up, you're getting there!  Smiley

Last lap of my 3lap is really bad, but that was enough to get the Hero I wanted. Flap was alright, I missed Hero A by 0"002, but I know I can get the Titan eventually. I will come back there soon, if not tomorrow, to get those records closer to top 100.

Jeez. You're going strong! And actually you motivate me to play some kart too. However I already committed myself to DKCR. else I would have joined to play MKDD again. I somehow find this game terrible hard to get into the top 100, yet I think, I'd put much time in it back then. I also find it pretty hard to play consistent and most courses can be very annoying too. So I'm really impressed by your progress.

I have now reached a point where it's significantly harder to PR. It took me about 2 (maybe 3 ?) hours to get beat the flap record, which wasn't that great to begin with. I feel my shrooms such but I can't seem to fix them yet. Didn't get the Hero yet on the 3lap, but at least all my times are inside the top 200 now, and I've got some new best splits, including a sub 26 no-shroomer lap. I ought to get sub 25 shroomer-laps consistently though if I want to improve my time significantly, which is why I'll keep practising the flap for a while. Will also study some videos too, as I struggle to see my mistakes most of the time (a proper ghost may help hopefully).

AF improvement : 132nd -> 131st (~137.72)

Mick, it's creepy. I was reading your progress, and I must say, we're very close to being parallel between you on 'DD and me on 'DS.  o-o

Why?

-I started at Adv. A
-I'm now at Hero D
-I just got all my times inside the top 200
-I've reached that point too, where big cuts are few and far in between
-I'm trying for my 3rd Titan as well
-I'm in the upper 130's AF-wise

...But I've got a Myth.   Cool

Down to 4 Expert times to take down... still slightly disappointed by this run because it only had one decent lap (lap 2 - 25"804). Since I have been practising on this track a lot, might as well go for the sub and maybe the top 100 so I won't have to touch it again in a long while.

I got this time in 20 minutes ! Unfortunately the stream died shortly before the run... I still recorded the replay with the local recording function of xsplit as a proof, though. Lap 2 had a glaring mistake at the end when I went too fast on the last turn, recovered with A-tech which saved the run. Lap 3 almost beat my flap PR and is about 0"3 faster than my previous best split. This will not be easy to beat... I will try to get a new flap recorded now.


Edit : Well I just got 1'16"814 live, lol. 110th to 107th, I'll take it ! 25"9 / 25"7 / 25"0 (missed mt, average shrooms). Also a new flap of 24"778 (138th ---> 136th) on the first attempt, good start.


Edit 2 : 24"596, 98th, Hero B. Last turn could have been a bit better but I'll happily settle with that, another top 100 in the bag. Recorded live as well, might post the videos.


AF improvement : 129th ---> 127th (~134.22)

3lap would have been pretty good if I didn't choke near the end (33"4 last lap Sad). That was the only time I beat the tables too... The flap made up for it though, third Titan time ! Potential for sub 1'40 (Richard called it) but I need a break from this track.

Inconsistent 3lap, but it did the job well enough. It's even Hero C by 0"001, lol. Top 100 is well within reach, in fact I failed a 1'41 at the very last jump <___<
Flap had a bad last turn, I only improved thanks to the Bo tech. I'm genuinely surprised it's top 100. Aiming for sub 32.

Just read that. Well, there's a specific point where you have to start  fighting for your PRs. For some this point comes earlier, for some it almost isn't noticable. I for example had no trouble getting TOP50, yes even TOP25 wasn't a big deal in MKDD, but at this point I had to fight. PRing in DD is most epic for me, better than in any other MK. There's also another thing: when you lose the motivation for a game, you will barely improve anymore, even if you wanna try it again, you will fail to get a high rank. The best is if you keep playing one game and don't have a too big break. Otherwise the chances could be high you will lose the feeling for this game. But.. maybe you will also get a boost and PR like never before, you never know Smiley. What I want to say is; as long as you have fun and can PR easily, stick with the kart.

And, I actually joined the MKDD site because I wanted an easy boost in the combined rankigs. I'll be doing the same w/ Wii and '7 eventually. As for MKSC... let's just say anything harder than 50cc makes me fall off at every imaginable point. And I don't even own (nor have I ever played) '64 or SMK.

Edit: Mick, I just saw the charts-- we're still parallel. You have Hero C and I have a third Titan, and we're both 120-ish AF-wise. Wanna make it a race, to see who cracks the top 100 first? Smiley

After double-digit fails I finally got the 1'42 sub. One missed mt on lap 3, and an average non-shroomer. My 33"5 opener was a new best split though. Improved the flap by a whopping 0"3 as well and got the sub by a considerable margin. I lost about 0"2 at the beginning alone though so Titan is within reach.
This is now my best track, until I replay RR Tongue

AF improvement : 119th ---> 116th (125.22)

Great progress for what was roughly one hour of gameplay. Only one Expert time remains to beat (DDD 3lap). There are still some better strats I could use in order to dodge the cars though, especially on the last straight, I need more practice. Also I fucked up the first turn on the flap... Anyway I need to get new times on there recorded on stream (didn't work at all today).

AF improvement : 116th ---> 114th (122.41)
ARR improvent : Hero C --- Hero B (12.4375)

The 3lap is actually very close to my current best splits, now. While I could obviously improve my shoomer laps (with the 33"0 openers I get I should be able to get under 32"5, I will struggle to get another consistent run again, and since to get the top 100 I need the sub... We'll see later when I'll be trying for the Titan time. I did get the Titan on the flap one though (also cracked another top 100).

Dry Dry Desert

1'35"270 ---> 1'34"422
168th ---> 123rd
Expert A ---> Hero C

29"514 ---> 29"218
133rd ---> 103rd
Hero C ---> Hero A

And no more Expert times ! I was happy to land a run and smash my PR after pretty much never reaching the lap 2. While I was there I also played the flap, and fell short of the top 100. Both runs have their share of mistakes, so it's likely that I'll stick there for a little more, at least for the flap.
Then, I will take care of the few times that are outside the 60Hz top 100 (both PB's, MB 3lap, DDJ 3lap) and I should be pretty close the overall top 100 by this point !
