2nd POQ (Apr-Jun) 2012
09/09/12 at 09:54:48

Long overdue, but finally here it is. We've had to wait over 2 months for it, so I'll get straight to business.

The three candidates are:

#1 Andy Lundeen: The most important thing that happened in this quarter is obviously Andy Lundeen becoming the MKSC world champion. He might be afraid that we could've missed this, because he also decided to set over 10 new world records.

#31 Jonathan Steel: Jonathan started April on 39th position and Expert D in ARR. He was one of the very few players that more or less was active all quarter long. At the end of June, he had passed 8 players (including MKSC legend #37 TvK) to reach 31st and Expert A.

#42 Frederick Hutchington: In terms of position gained, Frederick was by far the most succesful player in this quarter. In April his intermediate skills hadn't taken him further than the 68th position, but he decided to step out of the dark and, like a true expert, he gained over 25 positions, to reach a solid 42nd slot.

How was Ben Allen's progress during this quarter, do you know? In terms of non-ZZMT, his position is pretty high on the chart, so even small cuts by him I think were pretty impressive. Didn't he get a few non-ZZMT WRs as well?

Ben's only PRs in this quarter were sent to us in the last 2 weeks of June. He made 3 non-ZZMT WRs (which is very impressing, don't get me wrong here), but that basically was all. His main PR streak started after June had ended.

I think that one of the most important traits someone should possess to win a POQ is overall activity. Ben was only active in 2 of the 14 weeks of this quarter, which is way less than the three people nominated now.

My vote goes for andy. He overtook one of the greatest karters ever, the second to reach RR God. And we all know how much is difficult. But he beated him. I want to see a fight for the crown between them, because would be AWESOME.

I followed this period of MKSC history semi-closely since it was right after all of the activity, and while I'm sure Frederick and Jonathan's progresses are impressive and took some real work, but Andy's surge to the top after months of trying is unbeatable imo. It was just a few years ago when Seb's AF almost rivaled MJ's in MK64, now he's sitting in second.

I voted for Andy too, although Jonathan & Frederick made nice progress too.

Especially Jonathan always impressed me during my active period, because he was improving all the time and gaining place after place. Too bad he isn't playing anymore (I think?)

Noseys improvements were awesome too, but he passed me, so no vote for him (j/k that's not the reason of course Tongue)

The feeling of being a world champion is intoxicating, and I didn't want to ever not be the world champion again. Then I realized it didn't matter that much since I had nothing more to prove and achieved my most important goal(s).
