Matchups and Results
08/29/12 at 15:52:35

The results are in:

Play In Match 1

Kmacc (Kevin McAteer) - 29 votes (32.9%)
Sorozone (Ben Hart) - 23 votes (26.1%)
TJL (Thomas Jordet Larsen) - 18 votes (20.4%)
Jaws (Jaws Jawesome) - 10 votes (11.3%)
Cutz22 (Noah Gordon) - 8 votes (9%)

Sorozone started this match strongly, and developed a 5 vote lead over the others. Then the kcmaccy fans decided they should start voting. He eased his way into 1st, and thats where he stayed. TJL had solid support all day, but not enough to get within 3 votes of the top 2. A late surge for Jaws moved him ahead of Cutz into 4th.

Kmacc moves on to the play in final.

Play In Match 2

Abel Marques - 23 votes (27.3%)
Nick Harvey - The Drew Bees of SMK (Nicholas Harvey) - 20 votes (23.8%)
no control (Zoran Tintor) - 17 votes (20.2%)
termoPilucco (Luca Barbetta) - 16 votes (19%)
Goose (Ryan White) - 8 votes (9.5%)

This match was a lot closer. Nick and Abel were trading the lead all day, and for large portions of the match it was only ever a 1 vote gap between them. Termo and Zoran were never far behind either, with Zoran being only 1 vote off the lead at the mid point. The last few votes of the match broke the tie, and gave Abel the win. Strangely, Goose barely got any support and languished in last the whole match.

Abel moves on to face Kmacc in the play in match final.

Play In Match Final

Kmacc (Kevin McAteer) - 34 votes (53.1%)
Abel Marques - 30 votes (46.9%)

This match was was as tight as a nuns fanny until Kmacc got a string of 6 votes in the early hours. Abel never managed to close the gap to less than 4 votes after that. As was to be expected, Kmacc got strong support from the USA, and Abel got strong support from Europe. Though not quite enough.

Kmacc advances to the main contest bracket.

Cole Gilbert more like Cool Gilbert.

Enchanted Woods Creatures (Group 1)

Finn (Finn Berger)  42 votes (35%)
Aron Langerak  30 votes (25%)
Duff (Drew Blumfield)  26 votes (21.6%)
Eoj (Joe Bernier)  22 votes (18.3%)

The first group, and a relatively small upset here. Finn was strong all day and was comfortably in the lead from the start, as was to be expected. The other three were a lot closer, and pretty much split the SMK vote in three. In the end, 8 votes seperated them. But during the first half of the match these guys were neck and neck. Duff and Joes support dried up towards the end, while Arons didnt. And so the first 'auto-in' bites the dust, and the first nominee goes through.

Finn and Aron advance to Round 2.

cool not (Group 2)

Cole (Cole Gilbert)  61 votes (48.8%)
Firewaster (Guilherme Arantes)  24 votes (19.2%)
IsThatAGoodThing (Scott Abbey)  21 votes (16.8%)
RVZ (Robert van Zanten)  19 votes (15.2%)

There were no small upsets in this group, only major ones. Cole surprised even me with his overwhelming support here. He stormed into a 10 vote lead early on, and romped home from there. As with Group 1, the other three were nip and tuck. They all had solid support throughout the day, and Scott and Guilherme were tied with an hour to go. Guillherme took the last 3 votes to knockout the 2k10 Quarter Finalist.

Cole and Guillherme advance to Round 2.

Cool graphs may follow later.

They all voted maf...

Wop Wop Wop (Group 3)

Roy (Nicola Torre)  66 votes (49.2%)
MVT (Michael Tunzi)  32 votes (23.8%)
G-Danzee (Giulio Centrone)  25 votes (18.6%)
Mihawk (Patryk Choma)  11 votes (8.2%)

There were no major upsets in this group as the two auto ins progress to Round 2. MVTs board wide posting garnered him enough support to make 2nd place his own the entire day. Nicola got huge support from new school, IRC, and his fellow wops which saw him cruise to victory. Giulio mounted a late comeback of sorts, but it wasnt enough to bridge the gap to MVT. Patryk initially started off well, but couldnt sustain the good start and ended up a distant 4th.

Nicola and Michael advance to Round 2.

nice wr (Group 4))

Zarkov (Chris Clark)  55 votes (35.9%)
Chraizy (Christian Wild) 48 votes (31.3%)
Nmeade (Nick Meade)  36 votes (23.5%)
nstinson (Nathan Stinson)  14 votes (9.1%)

This matchup was tied early on, very early on. After 2 people voted it was 1-1-1-1. The closest it got again was an hour later when Clark was on 18, Christian on 17, and Nick on 16. After that though, Clark pulled out a nice gap to Christian, and both of them pulled away from Nick for the rest of the match. Christian was knocked out in the last 64 in 2k10, but guarantees a better finish this year.

Clark and Christian advance to Round 2

Lets all go to xhamster for votes.

Raphael Nadal Super Fans

Etch (Robert Szabo)  54 votes (38.5%)
Neo - The Roger Federer of SMK (Florent Lecoanet)  43 votes (30.7%)
Utter (Matthew Ord)  31 votes (22.1%)
Brutus (Yunus Aricanli)  12 votes (8.5%)

A group with two previous finalists in was always gonna be tough for the other guys, but they gave it a go nonetheless. Etch built a lead early on which he maintained throughout the day. Utter started well, and a few hours in was comfortably ahead of Florent. Then Florent used his sexiness and summoned his French minions and clawed back the lead Utter had made and in turn made his own comfortable lead. They both got fairly equal support after that with the gap remaining roughly the same until the end of the match. Brutus could only manage to eat Utters haggis dust in 4th place.

Robert and Florent advance to Round 2.

I <3 Shemales

sn1989 (Stacy Needham)  48 votes (32.8%)
Sword (Tom Norton)  46 votes (31.5%)
TB1 (Thomas Bolton)  36 votes (24.6%)
Andrew Math  16 votes (10.9%)

Stacy blew off (hehe) into a big lead initially following solid IRC support. Sword gradually came back throughout the day until they were tied with a few hours to go. Stacy picked up a few late votes to take the group win, with Sword a close 2nd. Support for TB1 was relatively thin at the start of the match, but he gathered momentum later in the day and didnt finish that far away in the end. Andrew also enjoyed some late voting in his favour, but by that time the gap was insurmountable.

Stacy and Tom advance to Round 2.

Level 99 Knights of the Round

100% Hetrosexual

KartSeven (Pierre L'Hoest)  60 votes (43.4%)
Psypothic/Pobre (Jeffrey Gutierrez)  30 votes (21.7%)
GenesisX (Martin Prigent)  27 votes (19.5%)
MrL1193 (John Brunn)  21 votes (15.2%)

Interesting match this one. Pierre and Martin shot off at light speed in the first few minutes, and were 10 clear of the other two. Martin even had a 3 vote lead, then over the next few hours Jeff first reeled John in, then Martin until he built a healthy gap. Pierre remained strong throughout the day with especially strong support from SMK. Martin picked up a few late votes to close the gap to Jeff, but ultimately it wasnt enough.

Pierre and Jeff advance to Round 2

Move It Move It

ALAKTORN (Michele Magnaterra)  53 (38.4%)
KoopZ (Cooper Lovera)  43 (31.1%)
LeeBoon (Fabio Sacco)  24 (17.3%)
Oneshot (Sean Billingsley)  18 (13%)

The wops mustve been on in force at the start of this match as Michele and Fabio raced off into the lead. Then Michele mustve told the wops to only vote for him as Fabios support literally stopped for hours. This gave slow starter Koopz a chance to catch up, which he did in ernest. He surpassed Fabio and Sean easily, and nearly caught Michele. Sean did very well amongst SMK'ers, but didnt find much love from anyone else.

Michele and Cooper advance to Round 2.

ur gay comet me padz

more like Group J

Shock (Andy Lundeen)  50 votes (37.5%)
Honko (Robin Usher)  39 votes (29.3%)
TheFrigz (Ryan Stevens)  22 votes (16.5%)
NikeXTC (Iacopo Sorce)  22 votes (16.5%)

A bit of an upset here. Maybe Robin should put more effort into campaigning, and less effort into rubbing padz bum. But anyway, He and Andy were never in trouble of being caught up by the other two. Although Andys strong support comes as a surprise. He was consistently 10 or so votes clear of Robin throughout the match, garnering many votes from SMK and MKSC. Ryan and Iacopo had their own battle for 3rd, which Ryan had sewn up until the wop mafia made another appearance and gave Iacopo some last minute votes.

Expert C in girls

Zwiebel (Timur Ahmad)  53 votes (36.8%)
BPA (Ben Allen)  36 votes (25%)
Happy/Frostbeule (Kalle Videkull)  31 votes (21.5%)
padz (Jack Murphy)  24 votes (16.6%)

This match was a lot more unpredictable. I think we all had trouble picking a winner here, with all 4 having a shot at the group win. Ultimately it was Timurs new school support which gave him a comfortable victory, remaining in 1st from the off. The other three were neck and neck until after a few hours they dropped padz. SMK and MKSC got behind Ben, like they did with Shock in Group 9, and got him into 2nd. Kalle was valiant, but just missed out.

Just a note for tomorrows groups. They may be posted a few hours earlier due to me being out picking up chicks.

Apologies for the late results. I was scoring with "chicks".

Boobs & Rapping

VAJ (Vincent Tolhuis)  49 (33.7%)
Detective Spril (April Thompson)  42 (28.9%)
Sully (Sean Sullivan)  34 (23.4%)
ShitoRyo (Loris Bagnasco)  20 (13.7%)

Group 11 had three karters who have all done well in previous contests, so this was a tough group for new entrant Loris. VAJ jumped out into a strong lead early on (grin grin grin grin grin), but then Sully and April started picking up North American support later in the day and reeled in some of VAJs lead (shocked). They all remained fairly close, until late in the day when the top two picked up some votes and confirmed their place in Round 2.

Vincent and April advance to Round 2.

Cheaters R Us

KVD (Karel van Duijvenboden)  59 (40.9%)
webinator (Zack Weber)  36 (25%)
Abel Marques  28 (19.4%)
Kouider Benarioua  21 (14.5%)

Last minute replacement Abel nearly caused an upset here, being ahead of Web for the first few hours. Then Web gained some traction, and passed him to finish comfortably ahead. Karel was very strong all day, particularly amongst SMK voters which is to be expected. Kouiders lack of MB activity didnt do him any favours, except with the MKDD crowd who supported him well.

Karel and Zack advance to Round 2.

Pokerstars

Mick (Mickael Smolen)  55 votes (38.7%)
Mario86 (Guillaume Leviach)  37 votes (26%)
20-100 (Vincent van der Fluit)  27 votes (19%)
Kmacc (Kevin McAteer)  23 votes (16.1%)

Team France pulled each other off, aswell as pulling off a nice 1 2 here. Mick marched off into the lead like Napoleon marched off into Africa, with a dominate performance. Mario, Vince, and Kmacc remained fairly tight throughout much of the day until Mario picked up a healthy chunk of SMK votes and claimed 2nd.

Mickael and Guillaume advance to Round 2.

Cleverdudes + Meaks

Boom3r (Sebastian Stellmacher)  44 votes (32.1%)
TvL (Thomas van Leeuwen)  43 votes (31.3%)
TJazz (Benoit Boudreau)  36 votes (26.2%)
Meaks (Stephen Meakings)  14 votes (10.2%)

This match swung this way, and then that way, and then down my pants. TvL picked up a nice early lead, which he held onto for most of the match. Infact with only an hour to go he was 2 votes ahead of Seb. Then Seb got some last minute support, and pipped TvL to the group win by 1 vote. Benoit was always within striking distance of the top 2, but just wasnt able to bridge the gap. Meaks maybe masqueraded as someone else one too many times, and finished in a lonely 4th. He still got the IRC vote though.

Sebastian and Thomas advance to Round 2.

Groups 15 & 16 will be posted at the usual 10PM GMT.

THE END IS NIGH! (of Round 1)

A Randomly Expressed Group

MJ (Michael Jongerius)  50 votes (37.5%)
Lafungo (Christophe Charignon)  38 votes (28.5%)
tuomas/Funk DJ (Tuomas Dunkel)  28 votes (21%)
Fank009 (Taylor Fankhauser)  17 votes (12.7%)

We all had MJ to breeze through here, and the other three fighting it out for 2nd. Which is exactly what happened. Although MJ didnt walk into Round 2 without a push. After an hour, MJ, Tuomas, and Christophe were tied on 9 a-piece. Then the MK64 crowd backed their Emporer, and the group win was never in doubt. Christophe and Tuomas remained close for a good portion of the day, but the new school support was just too much for Tuomas to overcome. Fank started well, and was within 5 votes of the other three for the first hour. But his support dwindled later in the day when everyone realised if he got through, who would look after all the sheep?

Michael and Christophe advance to Round 2.

40+

Jonesy (Mark Jones)  45 votes (32.6%)
Shaun (Shaun Tanney)  35 votes (25.3%)
Kevin Booth  31 votes (22.4%)
Camster (Cameron Tangen)  27 votes (19.5%)

A surprisingly tight group. Jones got a lot of support from all bases as the adoring masses acknowledged their Grand Master, but the others wernt gonna settle for a blowout. Shaun started the day fairly slowly with Cam and Kevin picking up a lot of the North American votes, but as the UK and Europe started waking up Shaun started gaining votes. He built a healthy lead, before a late surge of support for Booth got him within 2 votes. The last few votes of the day however sealed the qualification for Shaun. Cam also gets the unenviable record of most votes for a 4th place finisher.

Mark and Shaun advance to Round 2.

So Round 1 is now complete. Congratulations to all who made it to Round 2. You were gracious in victory. And comiserations to all who didnt make it. You were galant in defeat. Except padz. He didnt take it too well.

Anyway, behold the Round 2 bracket. You can see who is facing who now quite clearly.

The first two matches of Round 2 will be posted on the 17th September at 10pm GMT, and will last for 24 hours.

Also, here are the percentages and vote totals for the Top 10 in Round 1:

Percentages

Roy (Nicola Torre)  66 votes (49.2%)
Cole (Cole Gilbert)  61 votes (48.8%)
KartSeven (Pierre L'Hoest)  60 votes (43.4%)
KVD (Karel van Duijvenboden)  59 (40.9%)
Mick (Mickael Smolen)  55 votes (38.7%)
Etch (Robert Szabo)  54 votes (38.5%)
ALAKTORN (Michele Magnaterra)  53 (38.4%)
Shock (Andy Lundeen)  50 votes (37.5%)
MJ (Michael Jongerius)  50 votes (37.5%)
Zwiebel (Timur Ahmad)  53 votes (36.8%)

Highest vote total

Roy (Nicola Torre)  66 votes
Cole (Cole Gilbert)  61 votes
KartSeven (Pierre L'Hoest)  60 votes

Zarkov (Chris Clark)  55 votes
Etch (Robert Szabo)  54 votes

So Round 2 is here! And we start this magnificent round with one for the oldies...

Round 2 Match 1

Finn (Finn Berger)  48 votes (58.5%)
Shaun (Shaun Tanney)  34 votes (41.4%)

Finn chalks up a nice victory here over one of the stronger new school karters. It started much the same as it finished in all honesty. He went 4-0 up in seconds, maintained the lead for an hour, then hit a nice 6 vote streak which put the match beyond doubt. Shaun had a couple of streaks of 4 and 5 of his own, but they wernt enough to stem the tide of old school votes for the MK64 veteran.

Finn advances to Round 3.

Round 2 Match 2

Cole (Cole Gilbert)  54 votes (65%)
Lafungo (Christophe Charignon)  29 votes (34.9%)

This was always going to be a huge ask for Christophe to overcome the might of Cole, but nevertheless it wasnt the huge blowout some expected. The match started well for Christophe, going 4-3 up in the early minutes. It remained neck and neck until an hour into the match when Cole hit a 5 vote streak. From there he just kept opening the gap, like an experienced penis stretching an unforgiving anus, until the gap was insurmountable.

Cole advances to Round 3.

Woptacular...

Round 2 Match 3

Roy (Nicola Torre)  42 votes (53.1%)
TvL (Thomas van Leeuwen)  37 votes (46.8%)

Maths genius, and self styled king of predictions TvL came very close to upsetting the strongest karter from the group stage in this match. Roy started strongly gaining leads of 15-7 and 20-13 during the first few hours. But as the match went on, TvL slowly started clawing his way back. With a couple of hours to go, Roys leads was down to 2 as TvL brought it back to 36-34. In the end, Roy took 6 of the last 8 votes to hang on to victory, and advances to the last 16 for the 2nd time in the last two contests.

Nicola advances to Round 3.

Shadow will be posting the results of Match 4 shortly.

Round 2 Match 4

Zarkov (Chris Clark)  49 votes (69%)
Mario86 (Guillaume Leviach)  22 votes (31%)

This matchup was decided very early on, with Clark taking a 9-1 lead, and extending it to 20-5 after just 1 hour of voting. When Guillaume reached double digits with 10 votes, Clark replied with a punishing run of 14 votes without reply, and although Guillaume was able to take the majority of the late votes in the match (7 of the last 9), the result was never in doubt.

Zarkov advances to Round 3.

Gurls gurls gurls...

Round 2 Match 5

Etch (Robert Szabo)  49 votes (66.2%)
Webinator (Zack Weber)  25 votes (33.7%)

This match looked at the formbook and said 'yep, thats what il do'. Etch quickly went 8-1 up, and on the hour had extended his lead to 16-7. Web hit back with a streak of 5 votes, and that was as close as it got. From then on, Etch zzmt'd his way to victory.

Etch advances to Round 3.

Round 2 Match 6

sn1989 (Stacy Needham)  49 votes (64.4%)
Detective Spril (April Thompson)  27 votes (35.5%)

This battle of ladies names was almost a carbon copy of Match 5. Stacy took an 8-1 lead, but then April picked up some solid MKSC support and managed to stay within in reach until the halfway point when Stacy announced his prowess with a monster 15 vote streak which put this match well and truly into the realms of 'over'.

Stacy advances to Round 3.

Honko more like Loseko...

Round 2 Match 7

KartSeven (Pierre L'Hoest)  48 votes (64.8%)
BPA (Ben Allen)  26 votes (35.1%)

This was a tough match to call considering both players can consider SMK and MKSC as their strongest bases. So such a margin of victory for Pierre comes as somewhat of a surprise. Ben started strongly moving 5-1 into the lead in the early minutes. Then the one hour mark ended a 9 vote streak for Pierre, who was now 14-7 up. Another hour, another big streak for Pierre as he hit a huge 14 vote one. This put the match beyond all doubt. To Bens credit though, he was tied with Pierre if you only go on votes in the 2nd half of the match.

Pierre advances to Round 3.

Round 2 Match 8

ALAKTORN (Michele Magnaterra)  55 votes (63.9%)
Honko (Robin Usher)  31 votes (36%)

Tis a sad day for comedy. The man who made more like jokes (and terrible IRC bots) famous takes a tumble here against the man who was immortalized by my finest work. So I shall combine the two once again for comedic effect. ALAKTORN more like ALAKTO-BEAT-HONKO. Robin moved off into an early lead, but Micheles wop mafia put pay to his hopes of winning by slaughtering all the Honkfans before they had a chance to vote, and after two hours Michele was up 23-15. Honko held his own for the next few hours, until 4 streaks of 4 in the 2nd half sealed the deal for Michele.

Michele advances to Round 3.

Does this count as a Shock? ho ho ho...

Round 2 Match 9

Shock (Andy Lundeen)  48 votes (67.6%)
KoopZ (Cooper Lovera)  23 votes (32.3%)

Shock shocks the MK community with a shocking result which fills us all with shock and awe, whilst I eat my socks. But yeah, the match. KoopZ was looking to repeat his semi final finish in 2k10 before this match, unfortunately this match was anything but close. Andy quickly moved into 13-6 lead, before slowly increasing it over the next few hours. Not happy with said slowly increasing lead, Shock reeled off a 13 vote streak in the 2nd half of the match. KoopZ tried to stand up, but felt much more contented sitting down.

Shock advances to Round 3.

Round 2 Match 10

Zwiebel (Timur Ahmad)  60 votes (75%)
Psypothic/Pobre (Jeffrey Gutierrez)  20 votes (25%)

Zwiebel chalks up a huge victory here over the troll/spammer/lovable fiend we have all taken to our hearts. Considering Jeff changes his nick more often than Jonesy changes his soiled underpants, its a wonder anyone knew who he was going into this match. Timur fans certainly didnt. Though not in the first few minutes as Jeff was in touch at 7-6. Within in minutes of that though, Timur hit a 10 vote streak and the match was all but over. Another 9 vote streak followed in the early hours, and a finale streak of 14 gives Timur the biggest winning percentage we have seen yet in the 1v1 matches.

Timur advances to Round 3.

Check this out what the fuck nigga...

Round 2 Match 11

VAJ (Vincent Tolhuis)  36 votes (50%)
Sword (Tom Norton)  36 votes (50%)

Rapping skillz and Toad impersonation skillz go hand in hand it seems. This was by far the closest 1v1 matchup of the contest thus far. Initially though, VAJ got the better of it as he edged into a 11-7 lead with a 7 vote streak 30 mins in. He had extended his lead to 19-13 after 2 hours, before Tom slowly started clawing his way back. Once the score reached 24-23, neither got more than 2 votes clear of the other. And with 25 mins to go, it was tied 36-36. And thats how it stayed.

So this means we have our first tie of the 1v1 matchups. This in turn means overtime. So il leave this match up for another 24 hours.

Round 2 Match 12

KVD (Karel van Duijvenboden)  56 votes (74.6%)
Neo - The Roger Federer of SMK (Florent Lecoanet)  19 votes (25.3%)

Karel did his best to take Zwiebels winning percentage record off of him in this match, but just missed out by a whisker. In all honesty though, I dont think anyone expected such a dominant win here. Considering both are regarded as SMK Legends in equal measure. Maybe if all things are equal, dont vote for the French guy. But thats mean, I take it "back". Karel quickly moved into a 6-1 lead, before hitting a 10 vote streak 2 hours in to make it 24-7. Support for the 2k8 finalist was intermittent at best, as Karel kept unleashing streak after streak until Florent could only look at his Roger Federer urine with disgust. Where were you France?

Karel advances to Round 3.

Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Sad...

Round 2 Match 11 OVERTIME

Sword (Tom Norton)  45 votes (50.5%)
VAJ (Vincent Tolhuis)  44 votes (49.5%)

After the tight as you like tie yesterday, the overtime in this match proved to be just as tight. Neither got ahead by more than 1 vote, but it was Sword who took the all important final vote to clinch the win. Interestingly, he is so far the first and only Group Stage runner-up to make Round 3. Not only that, he did it by beating the #1 nominee. So congratulations are in order.

Sword advances to Round 3.

Round 2 Match 13

Mick (Mickael Smolen)  49 votes (59.7%)
Chraizy (Christian Wild)  33 votes (40.2%)

Mick chalks up an impressive win here over Wild who was hotly tipped to make Round 3. Early support for Mick was crucial as he moved into a 11-4 lead. They traded streaks of 3 or 4 over the next few hours, and Chris was still hanging on at 28-19. Then the voting steaks stopped for Christian, but carried on for Mick as he cruises to a very nice victory.

Mick advances to Round 3.

Round 2 Match 14

Boom3r (Sebastian Stellmacher)  59 votes (72.8%)
MVT (Michael Tunzi)  22 votes (27.1%)

MKSC supestar Seb run out a big winner against the outspoken (but always right) MVT. Mike had already surpassed his previous KC best by making this round, but making Round 3 just proved a step too far. It didnt start well for Mike as Seb soared into a commanding 14-4 lead within the first 30 mins. The onslaught of Hirano haters continued as Seb reeled off a streak of 6, then a streak of 11 three hours in. He now led Mike 38-14, and by this point it was time for Mike to stop hoping, and start advising padz on abstinence techniques.

Seb advances to Round 3.

Firechump Joneserak...

Round 2 Match 15

MJ (Michael Jongerius)  53 votes (69.7%)
Firewaster (Guilherme Arantes)  23 votes (30.2%)

It seems Guilhermes anti-campaigning worked a treat, as people voted for MJ is their droves. MJ went 11-2 up, then 35-17 up, before delivering a 12 vote streak in the latter half of the match to seal a big victory. Though Guilherme can take solace in the fact that MJ is still a chump.

MJ advances to Round 3.

Round 2 Match 16

Jonesy (Mark Jones)  42 votes (58.3%)
Aron Langerak  30 votes (41.6%)

I cant guarantee that Jonesy didnt make 42 alt accounts with his supreme powers, but it seems to me that most still love their Dear Leader. Although this match was closer than many would have expected. Mark started well moving 9-3 clear. Aron closed the gap slightly on the hour making it 19-14, but a streak of 8 for Mark in the early hours closed the door to an upset. Though Aron did finish strongly with a 6 vote streak to close the gap to a respectable 12.

Mark advances to Round 3.

So Round 2 is complete, and we are left with our Sweet 16. Well not so sweet seeing as Timur is polluting our noses with his smelly onion pies. There will be a 24 hour break before the start of Round 3. Round 3 will start at 10PM GMT on the 26th September. It will also be the last round featuring 2 matches per day as the QFs, SFs, and Final will only be 1 match per day.

Here are the percentages and vote totals for the Top 10 in Round 2:

Percentages:

Zwiebel (Timur Ahmad) (75%)
KVD (Karel van Duijvenboden) (74.6%)
Boom3r (Sebastian Stellmacher) (72.8%)
MJ (Michael Jongerius) (69.7%)
Zarkov (Chris Clark) (69%)
Shock (Andy Lundeen) (67.6%)
Etch (Robert Szabo) (66.2%)
Cole (Cole Gilbert) (65%)
KartSeven (Pierre L'Hoest) (64.8%)
ALAKTORN (Michele Magnaterra) (63.9%)

Vote Totals:

Zwiebel (Timur Ahmad)  60 votes
Boom3r (Sebastian Stellmacher)  59 votes
KVD (Karel van Duijvenboden)  56 votes
ALAKTORN (Michele Magnaterra)  55 votes
Cole (Cole Gilbert)  54 votes
MJ (Michael Jongerius)  53 votes
sn1989 (Stacy Needham)  49 votes
Zarkov (Chris Clark)  49 votes
Mick (Mickael Smolen)  49 votes
Etch (Robert Szabo)  49 votes

Round 3 more like Jacques Morphee...

Round 3 Match 1

Cole (Cole Gilbert)  47 votes (56%)
Finn (Finn Berger)  37 votes (44%)

This was the ultimate Old School vs New School match. Initally, Old School had the upper hand as Finn went 6-0 up in the first few minutes. Then the pendulum swung the other way as Cole cancelled out Finns early lead when he made it 9-11 on the hour. Finn regained the lead 3 hours in at 21-19, but a 6 vote streak for Cole essentially sealed the match for him. Finn never got within 5 votes after that. The nail in the coffin came as Cole took 9 of the last 11 votes to win comfortably.

Cole advances to the Quarter Finals.

Shadow will post the results of Match 2 shortly.

Round 3 Match 2

Zarkov (Chris Clark) 44 (55%)
Roy (Nicola Torre) 36 (45%)

This matchup was incredibly close for the first 4 hours or so. In fact, both Clark and Nicola kept tying up the match whenever one or the other got a few votes together. It was level at 5-5, 6-6, 7-7, 8-8, 10-10, 12-12, 16-16, 17-17, 18-18, 19-19, 20-20. Then Clark got a string of 5 votes to put some daylight between them, and he maintained that cushion for the rest of the match.

Zarkov advances to the Quarter Finals.

Round 3 Match 3

Etch (Robert Szabo)  47 votes (60.2%)
sn1989 (Stacy Needham)  31 votes (39.8%)

It seems 2k10s Finalist hasnt lost any steam over two years as he steamrolls Stacy out of the contest. Etch raced into an 11-5 lead. Three hours in and he was up 33-18 after a 10 vote streak. Stacy made up some ground in the latter half but couldnt repeat his Round 2 success.

Etch advances to the Quarter Finals.

Round 3 Match 4

KartSeven (Pierre L'Hoest)  44 votes (52.3%)
ALAKTORN (Michele Magnaterra)  40 votes (47.6%)

This match of old kart vs new kart was a lot closer. Neither one could gain a substantial lead in the first half. Michele was 11-9 up 30 mins in, and Pierre was 21-20 up 2 hours in. From there they remained nip and tuck until as late as 33-33. The last 8 hours though were Pierres as he took 9 of the last 14 votes to seal a very nice win over one of the strongest people in the first two rounds.

Pierre advances to the Quarter Finals.

Honko jizz umbrellas at the ready...

Round 3 Match 5

Shock (Andy Lundeen)  40 votes (59.7%)
Zwiebel (Timur Ahmad)  27 votes (40.2%)

This was a match many had anticipated to be close. However, Shock overcame The Onion Master fairly easily. In all honesty, this match was pretty much over in an hour. First Shock went 7-2 up in minutes, and then added to that with an 8 vote streak to take a commanding 17-7 lead. Timur held his own for a few hours before Shock picked up another decent streak to end any hopes Timur may of had.

Shock advances to the Quarter Finals.

Round 3 Match 6

Sword (Tom Norton)  40 votes (52.6%)
KVD (Karel van Duijvenboden)  36 votes (47.3%)

Sword scraped through Round 2 by the skin of his teeth, and does it again this round by beating the SMK Machine by 4 votes. This was one of those 'tight as a pre teen Honkos ass' matches we all know and love. The biggest gap between the two at any stage in the match was in the first few minutes when Karel went 5-1 up. From there they traded votes for a while until Karel was leading 31-27. In the 2nd half though, Sword picked up good support, and managed two streaks of 4 to put him back contention. The last few votes went Swords way, and he clinches a surprising victory.

Sword advances to the Quarter Finals.

Somehow 'blowout' seems like an understatement...

Round 3 Match 7

Mick (Mickael Smolen)  61 votes (80.2%)
Boom3r (Sebastian Stellmacher)  15 votes (19.8%)

Mick exerts his dominance in this match as he positively steamrolls Seb out of the way. It wasnt all bad for Seb though as he did lead the match at the start 1-0. Then Avalanche Mick got triggered, and Seb could only hope he didnt get swept away. Well hoping didnt work as Mick fans voted in their droves. He hit a streak of 10, then a streak of 15, and the match was over before it had barely begun. Interestingly, this is so far the only match where the winning percentage has been over 80%.

Mick advances to the Quarter Finals.

Round 3 Match 8

MJ (Michael Jongerius)  41 votes (57.8%)
Jonesy (Mark Jones)  30 votes (42.2%)

No blowout in this match, but a slight upset nonetheless. MJ always does well in the KCs, but its usually the same result every time. So beating the Champion Ninja with relative ease comes as a surprise. MJ started off well going 8-4 up in the early minutes, but Jonesy brought it close to level again on the 2 hour mark after a 9 vote streak which put the score at 15-14 in his favour. However support for MJ didnt diminish, and he slowly edged a lead which Jonesy wasnt able to overcome, and he ended the match with a nice 6 vote streak.

MJ advances to the Quarter Finals.

So thats Round 3 finished, and we have our Quarter Final lineup. A 50/50 mix of old and new school, which gives us some interesting matchups to look forward to. There will be the usual 1 day break between rounds, so the QFs will start at 10pm GMT on the 1st October.

There will be only 1 match posted per day from now on. There wont be a gap between QFs, SFs, and the Final.
