Il update this thread with links to Voting and Campaign rules, Karter Bios, and the brackets.
2k12 Karter Contest infoAnyone who is in the Karter Contest who cant make an account on speedrunwiki, please PM Michael Fried (Michael F on the MB) and he will create an account for you.Campaigning RulesHonkos rules from the last KC are pretty comprehensive, so il use those for the most part.1) No negative campaigning or flaming. Campaigns are great. It's always interesting to see who can come up with the best ideas to promote themselves (or their friends!) and possibly get themselves a couple unexpected victories. Negative campaigning (saying bad things about your opponent) is not so great. You can do whatever you want to convince people you deserve to be voted for, but don't resort to badmouthing your opponent. If you're insulting your opponent to try to get some more votes, you're missing the point and taking things way too seriously. Don't do it. "Vote for ____ because..." is great, "Don't vote for ____ because..." is bad.
Negative campaign topics or flaming will be quickly deleted. If someone really doesn't get the hint and keeps trying to break the rules, we may block them from posting on this board, ban them from voting in the contest, and/or remove them from the bracket. This ruins the fun for everyone, so just don't do it.
2) Keep everything contest-related on this board. So far everyone's done a good job of this. Everyone is free to make campaign or discussion topics for the contest, but keep them on the Karter Contest board. That's what this board is for. Don't spam up the other boards (or random people's PM inboxes) with contest stuff.
3) NO NUDITY! Nudity is not allowed on the board, fullstop. That includes as part of your campaign. If you want to work something out with people via PM or IRC, go ahead, but do not post pornographic images on the board. The same goes for graphic or violent images.
4) So go right ahead and make your campaign! See if you can out do Cutz excellent one.
Voting Rules1) Anyone who is a member of at least one of the seven Mario Kart Time Trials sites as of January 1st, 2012 OR has been a member on the Mariokart MB since April 1st 2012 is allowed to vote. Anyone who is unsure of their eligibility should contact Zarkov.
2) Matches will be posted as polls visible from any board on the MB. They will be posted each day, when the contest has started, at 10pm GMT and will last for 24 hours.
3) Votes will only be accepted on the MB, not by email/AIM/MSN/IRC/etc. If you anticipate you will be away for a few matches and want to send in your votes early, you may PM your votes to Zarkov on the Message Board. Votes by PM will only be accepted before the match in question starts, and only from people who have already voted in a Contest Poll at least once. If you're around on the day of the match, you should vote in the Poll.
4) You may not vote for yourself, or vote in any match you are involved in. If your name is in the match, dont vote. If you do, your vote will be removed.
5) The results of the polls will remain hidden until the end of the match. This is to stop people voting for who is winning, rather than who they want to win. The results of the match will be posted soon after it has finished in the
Matchups and Results thread.
6) In Round 1 (group stage) you can vote for
up to 2 people. If you vote for 3 or more,
ALL your votes will be removed.
- From Round 2 onwards, its all 1v1 matchups. So you can only vote for one option.
Any questions regarding campaigning, or voting, should contact me via PM or in the #mariokart IRC channel.
