Decent Alternate R-Tech
08/27/12 at 11:56:36

Hey everyone, I'm new here, but not new to karting.  I'm pretty decent on Double Dash but one technique that has eluded me for as long as I've practiced it is R-Tech.  From what I've read here, I figure it's not an easy thing to really get nailed down.  So I wanted to make my first post useful:

Rather than relying on the speed of one finger on one shoulder button, to get the effect of R-Tech, I've begun to use both shoulders alternately, thus with half the effort and half the tapping speed for each hand.  Especially on the Wario Colosseum spiral, I've found that alternating buttons like this really helps and I can get it to work MUCH more consistently than R-Tech.  Sorry if this is already a well-known technique, but I couldn't find it anywhere so I hope it helps someone out there.

This has been posted about thousands of times  Smiley

Yeah,  I have tried the L R alternating technique. Theoretically it should be as good as r-tech, but its much hard to get the exact rythm down imo when you press 2 buttons alternatively.  If it works for you, continue using it, but remember that as you start improving real r-tech is a necessity.

Yeah, alternating like you speak of looks like it's working pretty well, but it is significantly slower than a well performed normal R-tech.  In theory, maybe it could work to the same degree, but I don't think it will ever be the case in practice.

It's not L-tech, Aron.. Smiley

L-tech is holding R while tapping L,, which is how I do it..
he means tap L, tap R, tap L, tap R, etc... Alex Hantson told me last week he uses it
