So this weekend there's going to be a local tournament. What do I need to do to win?. I don't have the game yet because I'm waiting for the weekend to buy the 3DS XL, so I won't be able to practice much until the day of the tourny.

My friend does have the game and I have played through some of the courses already. I might be able to practice if I visit him before the tourny.

I've already seen all of the WR videos available in the stickied topics. I do wonder something, it's better to play in first person view?

If it helps, I come from MK64 and MKDS. Those are the two MK games I've played a lot and became really good at. I know that the way miniboosts work in MK7 has changed, I can get used to that.

Please help me win. That will be my advantage, that I have this message board.

I guess you won't be able to frontrun if you touch the game for the first time, so try to play smart with items. Don't waste them but think about before using them, especially things like 3 red shells or blue shells can come in handy if u don't use them right away but wait for a bit.

Other than that, don't stir while in air(especially after drift, wait to press a direction until you landed) because it sucks a lot of time. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice on what driving gear to pick. Since I'll only be able to practice on the day of the tourney, it's really likely that I won't unlock all of the karts or characters.

I'll try to remember what vehicle/character combo to use by looking at the WR for that course. But if it's not available I'll need a fallback. I do know Metal Mario I have to unlock.

right, with blues, there are a few things you can do: if you have a shroom, use it as late as possible to BSD, if you don’t, you can either stop and let the 2nd guy pass you, or you can fall outside the track before the blue reaches you, if you time it properly it will target 2nd instead

I don’t think you can BSD with an MT, but I doubt anyone has even tried

It's an SSMT, but don'T bother about it, it barely saves time, and if not executed good you might even lose time. Don't do that, believe me

Its the other way round, doing normal corners better helps at doing SSMTs.

Still, really don't bother with it, it's useless for that competition

I've been doing time trials too. Should I not bother with SSMTs there as well?

Not to mention that it doesn't save time with any kart combo, and it's only usefull on a few tracks and at certain spots.

acceleration goes by stages, I forgot the precise numbers but just make sure you have x.75 accel, that’s the start of the next stage; meaning: 4 and 4.50 are the exact same speed, but when it goes 4.75 your acceleration improves

BD + Monster has shit acceleration, it’s not something you should use
