Over the course of looking for unreported WRs, I've come across several times that are questionable whether they were WRs or were missing some crucial bit of information, such as exact time or exact player. Here they are:
Track: GCN Mario Circuit
Date: 7/31-8/2/2008
Time: 1'33"9xx-1'34"0xx
Player: Unknown Japanese
Source: http://www.mariokart64.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1204417758/1150#1161Timothy was beaten on rMC but does not mention the player, except to say that they are Japanese, and the time. The WR Site goes directly 1'34"036 by Tim on 7/19 to 1'33"945 by Tim on 8/2.
Track: SNES Ghost Valley 2
Date: 11/1/2008
Time: 0'54"131
Player: Mouse or "098 in this video (

Source: http://www.mariokartwii.com/threads/25937-WR-Update-Thread?p=831782#post831782I realize the source is now unavailable, but one of the responses mentions that the WR was improved by a Japanese player.
Track: SNES Ghost Valley 2
Date: 11/2/2008
Time: 0'54"120
Player: Same as "131 player
Source: http://www.mariokartwii.com/threads/25937-WR-Update-Thread?p=838527#post838527Once again, a now unavailable source. However it said that the WR was improved by the SAME player as the "131 time.
Track: Bowser's Castle
Date: 11/9-11/24/2008
Time: 2'24"242
Player: Sro
Source: http://www.mariokartwii.com/threads/25937-WR-Update-Thread?p=895422#post895422, Description of
http://youtu.be/YCCFtZyoac4Both sources say that the 2'24"230 was an "012 improvement. However, the site only has 2'24"245, which is "003 off. We know the "245 time existed due to the video and top 10 screenshots from that era, but it's definitely possible he has "242 as well.
Track: N64 Bowser's Castle
Date: 4/16/2008
Time: 2'38"540
Player: Astr0
Source: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/mkwii/conversations/messages/8Only question in this was whether it was done before or after Unreal's 2'37"872.
Track: Mario Circuit
Date: 4/18/2008
Time: 1'22"960
Player: NOBUO
Source: http://www.mariokart64.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1339502952/400#415Claim by 978 that an acquaintance downloaded the ghost back in 2008. If the time existed, it lasted as WR for under 1 day.
Track: Mario Circuit
Date: 8/10-8/24/2011
Time: 1'08"157
Player: さんまさん
Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVn755pE0BYLooking at the top 10, Mander and Jorge have both been exposed as cheaters. The previous legitimate WR was 1'08"413 by Niyake. That leaves Horseface with 1'08"157, who must have achieved it between 8/10 and 8/24, I think it's incredibly likely that this time was a WR, the only question mark being the date it happened on.
